Especially helpful that you checked a newly-cut thread for smooth operation. Your entire video is clearly narrated, with excellent camera angle, distance and lighting. No problem with audio, either. We understand modern cameras do most exposure automatically, but some publishers (occasionally) botch their videos, anyway.

Thank you. I inherited a really nice tap and die set, but I had no idea how to use it - or initially even know what it did. Your video is immensely helpful.

Today I tapped holes for four 14mm bolts in 3/16" steel for a set of off road lights using an el-cheapo set of taps (no name on them, just "Made in China"). Was scared to death of breaking off the tap in the hole, what a nightmare that is. Been there & done it, didn't want to go there again. Took my time, followed your directions, used plenty of cutting oil, and voila- success! Thanks for the great, informative video! 👍

I was brought here by a King of the Hill clip. I'm glad I went down this hole because I could use on of those to fix my shotgun. Instead of trying to get some lazy hardware store employee to find a bolt with the proper thread count, I can just make my own bolt. Huzzah

The camerawork in this is exceptional. Everything is very clear. I learned a lot. One question though: When you redid the process to make the threads deeper, why couldn't you just adjust the die with the screw adjustment only? You did show that, but then the video went on to show closing the gap by positioning the die differently in the holder to apply pressure to close the gap.
@FrankHurtAuto
@FrankHurtAuto 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, thanks for the compliment. The reason die was turned around and side bolt tighten, was to squeeze the die and cut the threads deeper. some die's have a screw on the side that you can tighten up to accomplish the same result. By the was these videos are made by my teenage (16-17 years old) students. Thanks again, cheers.

Your effort is appreciated, if I may would you pay an hour wages for one thread??? I do not think so... furthermore in your first attempt you showed the die holder screw on the split??? why? the correct way is when you re threaded the dimple in the die is to adjust the diameter of the thread IS THE CORRECT WAY... sorry...
