Good video, keep em coming. Love the information you put out there. I had to do a little flatbed work at my last company and had never used tarps before so I actually went on KZbin and watched some videos and gave myself a crash course lol. It was good there are people like you that take the time to put this out there to help others.

I don't do that bungee in the middle till all tarps are on so they roll up straight together 1st. If you notice the edge of the tarp where it would lay under the front tarp is now at an angle and less overlap.

Two questions for you sir? How do you fold a tarp when it's freezing ass cold outside and last but not least how do you get a tarp on top of some of those loans that are so tall when there's no forklift driver available?
@tomassmith4061
@tomassmith4061 4 жыл бұрын
Excellent video. I had to tarp a tall load like that today and learned a tip from a fellow driver. How do you keep the wind from blowing your tarp off as you drop the sides? (I hate when that happens!) This driver’s tip; Bungee a binder to a corner before you drop it. The weight of the binder keeps it from blowing away while you unfold and drop the other end. If it’s really windy, a binder in the middle too. Clever, says I.

Hey Brian, I'm skateboarding around Texas and was curious if you have any advice for tarping in the wind when there's nothing around to block the wind. Been subscribed over a year now since I started flatbed. LOVE your channel!!
@DrivenTrucking

Thanks a lot! There’s no real good way unfortunately, just a pain in the butt. If it’s bad, I take 4 heavy things up top and stick them in the corners, then hurry down and tie the corners down. If there are other drivers around you can ask them to help you with the corners as well while you stay up top and hold it down.

I was just headed to watch the video you released because I REALLY want the struggle of being an O/O! Today I picked up 60' I beams in Midlothian... tarping THAT load was a pain. I just put my wench bars up top then scrambled down.
@aircooledhead
@aircooledhead 3 жыл бұрын
@@DrivenTrucking A helper. Good luck with that. An old school flatbedder taught me: When you gotta “tornado tarp”, take some bungee cord and binders up with you. Bungee the corners and attach binders to bungee. Drop them over the sides at the corners to hold in place. More windy? More binders.

I've watched a lot of securement videos and it looks like some drivers strap the load but don't tighten the straps till after they tarp...are they doing this and why? Thanks for the info! Great Videos!
@DrivenTrucking
@DrivenTrucking 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I don’t believe they are, at least nobody I know does that. When you tighten down the load it’s possible on some loads that it could change the texture of the top of the load so I wouldn’t think so. Something like steel I don’t think would matter either way but I have always tarped after completely securing the load unless my straps are going over the top of my tarps which I basically only do that on insulation or tall loads to strap multiple tarps together with a two inch ratchet strap.
@B-rad87

Do you like the step deck better than flatbed? Has it opened up a door for more loads? I’m about to start my own authority, not sure if I want to get a step deck or stay with a 53 flat. Would appreciate a good opinion being you came from a flat and went to a step...thanks!
@DrivenTrucking
@DrivenTrucking 4 жыл бұрын
On the open market I’d say step, I don’t know if I’d say more loads necessarily but access to those step loads helps a lot. I haven’t had any issues getting loads anywhere and the occasional incredible step Load seems to be there every once in a while.
