Don’t know why this made me cry maybe because my dad was in deployment when I was younger but I have a fine young lady who wants to learn how to fish and I can catch bass all day but I don’t know how to help someone else catch bass and this helped a lot cheers

Very solid tips. It is so important to make yourself fully available to helping kids learn and keeping it fun for them. It will go much better if you go in with the mindset that today's fishing trip is about kids fishing, or you'll end up frustrated trying to fish yourself and then the kids pick up on your frustration... been there done that.

Best, concise, no filler, cover all the basics video I've seen on having an adult or parent prepare and teach a kid to fish, and enjoy the experience.

These are great tips. And a great channel. I grew up out west fishing mostly cats, trout, and heading up through Oregon fishing the salmon and steelhead seasonal runs. I moved to Wisconsin about 20 years ago and I'm finally learning how to fish out here as it's extremely different than the rivers and streams I'm used to out west. More so I'm trying to get my 13 year old daughter interested at the same and it's harder not knowing Midwest fishing myself much yet. So thank you for everything you're doing out here, I'm finding it all very helpful.

@@FishingwithNat oh nice you're in the central zone. I'm in the Waupaca area. Definitely some fishing opportunity here.

@@Recon19D3 Yep - the Chain is nice but really busy on weekends. Plenty of other small lakes near Waupaca/Amherst.

Dude this right here is exactly why im getting back into fishing. My 5 year old wanted to go, he got a spiderman pole for his birthday, similar to the Shakespeare in your vid. We took him last week and the rest of my family including my wife and teenage twins got HOOKED! We had a blast and somehow did everything you said in this video before i saw it. We are headed to big 5 for poles reels and tackle TODAY! Thanks for these great vids!

Man, I remember when my dad took me fishing for the first time (or the first time that I remember), I used his rod and reel, both really fancy and an inline spinner, man I tangled that mono (so many birds nests on a reel) so many times that day because pike were biting like crazy and I was hot headed and not listening to his advices. Fun day!

Sometimes a kid has to learn the hard way instead of listening to Mom or Dad!

I lost a nice rig with my dad deep sea fishing off the coast of orange county. Bonita snagged the pole out my hands, but I was too seasick to care 😂

Great tips, wish I came buy this video when I was teaching my twins how to fish. Would have made things more memorable from the beginning.

Aw man we had that rubber fish on his spidey pole and i was even having a hard time casting. Makes sense it curves in the air. Thanks! Will get rid of that thing asap!

I don't like closed reels (spincast). I get kids started on open spinning reels right away.
