We got the mouth around the object part down, she will even hold it for a split second but then always drops it immediately, or if I’m holding she releases or just shifts grip. Maybe I missed it in your video - how do you get a longer hold? What do you reward/ not reward?

great video .. we just did our first training using your method .. Tod picked it up really fast .. the touching .. but then if I let go when he held it he ran away with it .. he's mini foxie .. so he's pretty high energy and wants to play and me chase him .. any tips on getting him to just hold it and not run away .. 😊

Hi! Thanks for your video. I cannot get my dog to do a prolonged hold! He will teeth it for a second or two (I reward before he spits it out) but he won’t stay still with it. Any tips?

My dog doesn't outright put things in his mouth....I can train him to make contact with the object, like to bump with his nose or lick, but how do I get him to put it in his mouth??

I your still engaging with it, I would cut the time between them touching it and you saying yes or clicking down. You want to reward the exact behaviour you want

Dogs don’t naturally put things in their mouths if you have adopted a dog that was trained not to open its mouth around people!
