Slightly confused - I thought that bulbs worked on resistance - the higher the resistance, the more energy it can transfer by heating from the circuit? According to my (possibly misconceived) understanding, this means that a brightre bulb will have a higher resistance.

the brightness and resistance of bulbs connected in series is directly proportional but the brightness and resistance of bulbs connected in parallel is inversely proportional
