I don’t know how you can have any dislikes on this video, they’re clearly uneducated people. I train dogs, and I’m actually looking to try a couple things with my horse. You’ve done everything great, showed the horse all the links in the chain and set them up to win. Fantastic trainer, and with those strategies you could train an mammal

Uneducated? Someone who starts name calling because others don’t agree with something you do has obviously not excelled past high school or you wouldn’t be training dogs. I think making any animal do tricks is unnatural and I did my undergrad at Columbia so I guess I’m uneducated too?
@ParkBenchAsStoner
@ParkBenchAsStoner 13 күн бұрын
@@dinasanchez-ex5gian education at Columbia would have taught you enough to know that is not name calling. For looking at the graduates of Columbia going back 10+ years it doesn’t seem you are one of them. More importantly it confirms you know nothing about horse. You know nothing about horse physically or mentally. You are so far removed from the horse world that you have no idea how much your loud stupidity sends 1000+ horses a year to slaughter.

A horse laying down is not unnatural.

Absolutely outstanding explanation, this is the best method I have come across by far! Using the horses natural lay down procedure they slowly understand what you ask and without force. Without using force they respect and trust you, (Or continue to rather) other then feel submitted to having to do it. A very good demonstration of pressure and release. Thank you! You must have some horses that would jump into the gates of hell with you; trust level with these techniques.

You know, when I was 6 (in 1960) I got my first horse. He was stabled at a riding school outside of the city I lived in (in Denmark). All the horses were standing in stalls, tied in their halters, 24/7 when not being ridden, in other words up to 23 hours a day for some. That was considered normal, and I certainly didn't know any better. He was actually one of the lucky ones, because I got to take him with me for the summer to the country, and he'd spend his days in a grassy field with cows. When I think back on that, I feel ashamed on behalf of all of us. Now I watch people all over the world coming up with paddock paradises and what not, to improve the way their horses live (we can't all have 100 acres in the Mid-West), and I watch more and more young people like you, training horses with sense, sensibility, patience and understanding. It gives me some hope for the future of horses in this world.
@sidilicious11
@sidilicious11 3 жыл бұрын
You put that so well! Where I grew up we all rode with curb bits as kids( see all the old cowboy movies), very little training was needed for horses to give in to the constant threat of pain. Now people are training their horses with patience and love and riding bridless! That would have been unfathomable back then. So much progress has been made, so many talented younger trainiers willing to share their knowledge, like this young woman.

wow ,i got to say i am continually blown away by mainly horsey girls on youtube that seem to have a spiritual connection with these majestic animals we love ,and get them to do what seems the impossible with an 500k animal that can literally spook for nothing ,in order to do these things they have to completely trust you i been riding all my life and realise how little i know about horses when i see these vids ,but they inspire me to try and learn more .today free lunged first time and it made me see how much my girl knows my voice and trusts me and how my and her behaviour and body language is the way we communicate ,i wish i had someone to teach me more when i am with my horse ,for now youtube will do thanks Sam you arev super cool

You are so calm and patient, lovely relationship. I want to teach my horse to lie down this winter and hope he will respond to this method. I use clicker training with him and he loves the clarity of the yes button. He is a smart horse who can open latches and gates and figures things out quickly. Once, my hat fell off and he bent down, picked it up with his teeth and handed it to me. Anyway, thank you for this. You are so talented and smart!

VERY well done, Sam. I have a new, very active big mule that I will use your method on as soon as the snow leaves. She is 15.2+ and I am old and short. I will teach her to stretch to be able to get on, but I want her to lay down on her belly for mounting also. It is for safety in the woods in case I get hurt and can't mount her in normal ways. You have provided the solution for me to teach her without hassling her into it. Can't wait 'til spring!

@@ashleymena954 hello Ashley! Unfortunately we had to euthanize the mare due to a severe inoperable colic a year ago, she also had other serious health problems that we barely kept under control though. I think all of them were somehow related because she was a relatively normal healthy horse and just spiraled down after we moved and brought her to a different country. But no vet was able to find the reason (and we invited like 10). As for laydown: I tried several relatively force-free methods, but didn't achieve any significant progress because at that point she felt very bad and only wanted to be left alone
