It's sad Germany is decommissioning all NPP, but the chemistry of the concrete was fun to learn about and explains a lot about why it takes so long

I once met a guy who's job was testing the radioactivity of metals at a recycling/smelting factory. If you're familiar with the chair/desk chairs in a lot of high schools and universities .. obviously, it would not be great if radioactive metals got mixed into the metals used to make those, and a lot of other products. "Regulations are written in blood." So, that's why that guy's job existed.

HF 💀 Even I am scared of that stuff, you think Calciumhydroxide could be used instead of your gel? As the resulting CaF2 is not water soluble. What are the next steps after applying the calciumgluconate, doesnt it have to be injected in the muscle tissue too?

Calciumgluconate won't mess with the pH and stays water solable. Yes its injected into the muscle if more is spilled and of course you immediatly rush to the Hospital.

I would guess no, as you need Baryte Concrete for its really high density and strenth. You want as much stuff per Volumen as possible (within budget)
