Some of the dressers I found have this thin layer of wood, kinda like vaneer. Is there a place to buy that glue on wood layer? It really doesn't look like vaneer, just a thin wood layer over the top. You can't tell until you sand.

How can we see the difference between veneer and laminate in a thrift shop ? Is it just the shinnyness?

It’s definitely more shiny but it’s also stronger and more durable so it won’t show as much wear like scratches and such. Because veneer is “actual wood” in a very thin layer, you’re likely to see some lifting, or corners damaged etc Hope that helps and happy thrifting! 😊

you missed one important one. compressed wood from China and decorated with plastic laminated compressed into one lovely peace..but its heavy and never solid wood. you will see this lots in dinning room, hutches and tables. it will say made in china many times.
