Stabilized turquoise is not a fake stone,in some cases a stabilized stone is better because it keeps the stone from turning from body oils and soil ! what you are realing looking for in fakes is if it is another stone such as howlite and it id dyed .

Bonus tip: If you come across natural Persian turquoise from the Nishapur mine, it usually carries the mother rock stone at the back, representing a genuineness certificate and showing that it is natural from the legendary Nishapur mine. However, it should be mentioned that stabilised turquoise is not fake. It is still turquoise of lower quality but "enhanced" by dye and resin. In this video, he explained the difference between natural and stabilised turquoise very well. Pulling your nail across the stone makes it more likely natural if it gets stuck in the matrix (dark lines). However, if it is too smooth, it is stabilised. The colour of the turquoise can also indicate its authenticity. It is probably stabilised and dyed if it is too dull or perfect. Fake turquoise is usually made by dyeing stones like magnesite or howlite with a blue colour. If they are sold as "dyed howlite" or "dyed magnesite," it is okay as the customers know what they are buying. Suppose you buy a real piece of turquoise stone or jewellery. In that case, I encourage you to educate yourself, as other terms like "reconstituted turquoise" or "restructured turquoise" in the market are unnatural. The originality of the turquoise stone you buy plays an important role in its value as well; Some mines are now closed/ have low deposits left, or have more demand from turquoise enthusiasts. So, always ask two simple questions from the seller: 1) Where is it sourced from? 2) Is it natural or treated? Remember, always buy from a trustworthy supplier. Good luck with your turquoise hunting, my friends! 💙💙💙

Love Santa Fe! Bought me some gummies and then headed to the town square for an excellent buzz, food, and shopping!

I got a red chili ristra for my birthday last year. One way to remind me of my growing up near Santa Fe in the 1950s and '60s. Now, according to "Esquire," Santa Fe as become (gag) "tony." I take out, and peruse my late wife's turquoise collection from time to time. There are some pieces she bought where the seller disclosed the stabilized nature of the stones at the time of purchase. She bought the pieces anyway because of their artistic appearance and not necessarily for the value of the stone.

Santa Fe has turned into one large tourist theme park. Hardly the small town it was 40-50 years ago before the movie stars and influx of Californians moved in.

That was Santa Fe. The town square and Palace of the Governors are not found in Albuquerque.

Native Americans don't use Persian turquoise in their jewelry - so what's your point? We should be looking for Persian turquoise in Native American jewelry?

Taco Sal's in Albuquerque have excellent sopapillas, served with honey whenever we are in the vicinity we always stop for good Mexican food, not all that hot as far as the inside surroundings are concerned but the food is awsome.
