How to tell if you're being sold a whitewashed sanitized version of Dr King

You can count on so many politicians and public pundits nodding towards the "Dream" of Dr. King today on the occasion of the national Martin Luther King holiday.
If you hear lots of talk about the "Dream", but never an acknowledgement of how Dr. King himself talked about the dream having turned into a nightmare for far too many, know that you are not getting a real Martin Luther King.
If you hear lots of talk about growth and wealth, but never a frank discussion of poverty and materialism, know that you are not getting a real Martin Luther King.
and if you hear lots of talk about "peace", but never a discussion of militarism, war, warmongering, and Empire, never hear a reference to over 30,000 human beings killed in Palestine right now, or US support for bombing the poorest human beings on earth, know that you are not getting a real Martin Luther King.
The prophets are never for validating power and empire, but for standing up for love and peace-through-justice, always for standing on the side of the poor and the needy, the orphan and the widow, the stranger, the bombed, the occupied, the driven-out-of-their-home, the hungry, the in-pain and the "least of God's children."
Insist on better.
