How to Tell if Your Fish Will Give Birth Soon "squared off"

Hey Guys!
Today's video I will be showing you how to tell if your fish will have its fry soon. The squared off look refers to the mothers bottom belly having a flat, squared off look, indicating she's going to give birth soon. This method works for any live-bearing fish such as guppies, platys, mollys, and swordtails. The platy in this video had fry right after filming which i think is very cool!

I went to the aqua shop ang saw this molly. Exactly this colour.. i bought it because it was soooo pretty . I never thought that it can deliver loads of babies hahahahah. I didnt even know what is the name at the first place. Now 2 of my mollies were pregnant. And im a proud momma🤣

But as easy as I find it in your video to recon as & when....????....so 1st thing in the morning I'll switch all 3 mother's to a 10 gals tank I have, but I'll need to organise atleast 2 epiphyte plants & a heater from my community tank (What temperature would I need to set ?) fish4ever is the reason why I started fish keeping my first three times didn't go to well.... but that didn't stop me I'm going to be trying a 4th and won't forget the tanks lid and add some mesh so the don't die from head trauma if jumping occurs rip.. I have learned many things .

Thanks for the video. My platy is a bit young so it is a bit harder to tell. Her birth canal looks a lot like the one on yours, so she may be ready to drop... I don't have a breeding box so she's in a well planted smaller tank by herself. Here's hoping! If any fish people are watching this, if she looks like this, can I put a blanket or something over the tank, to make it darker? I've heard they prefer to give birth in the dark, and I was wondering if this can safely encourage labour so it can happen before I have to sleep.

Yea they usually might give birth in the night and don’t worry about a breeder box mines pregnant and I’m not using one they like to give birth naturally so if you want you can but I wouldn’t

Taking them out seems the best way but they aren't as predictable because they was pregnant 2 weeks and had some fry some have been pregnant for 3 weeks and no fry math

So, I was looking for a red male sword with a black swordtail, and I found one with a lyretail at P*tL*nd. I was sold a female with him as a pair, too... she's shaped just like this female Platy, except her fins are red and she's about to pop! Was I sold a female platy with a male sword, who's about to have Platy babies, or do the female swords look just like female platies? Just curious if you know? Sadly, the male died within a week and that's one of the reasons that I want to save the babies.

I know this was a while ago but female guppies will have smaller fins, be slightly larger then the males and won't be as colourful (usually males will have the colourful flowy fins) the stomach can get large on a fish for different reasons not just pregnancy.

no idea where u live or anything... but id take out heaters out of the tanks... cause they are not necessary... live bears are cold water fish... had my livingroom tank drop at one point at 17 C... and no problems what so ever... have a tank outside where i drop unwanted guppies...and sometimes at night it get down to 10 C and some guppies die yeah but those that survive are super durable :)... its not a must... but ud save a lot money on electricity...and why have something that arent any good for those fish... nice video tho... tho i have tons of problems sexing my two platy that i got as a babys... one is bigger then the other...the smaller is 100% famale cause it has big round anal fin... tho the bigger one still not sure.. her fin is also round but even if the fish is way bigger then the other one her fin is half the size but also seems to be rounded..tho hard to tell cause it doesnt spread it out i dont know... well one day i guess ill know lol...

Platy are tropical fish. As are other livebearers, all requiring heat to survive and thrive thoroughly. Yes they can survive in lower temperatures. But they won't have quality of life and will die/become ill quicker

@@aaliyahdrew8787 i keep fish for over 30 years, livebears back in the day used to be kept/breed outdoors in freezing temps...and we had huge strong with amazing genetics fish. your ¨properly¨ took all that away and nowadays livebears ¨need to see a doctor¨ almost everytime...
