I'm brand new to the cruiser community. I was "gifted" a '96 fzj80 for a really good deal, but it was basically never maintained! The fact that there are no major problems is insane. Your videos are super helpful in getting to know the vehicle and hear from someone that's ahead of the maintenance and repair game comepared to me. Relatively simple, straight to the point, easy to follow, well narrated. Keep'em coming!

This is such a great series of maintenance before mods for me and the lx450. Literally I'm following along.

Hey thank you for watching :)

my 97 lx 450 looks very different from this one. I did find that my last mechanic just duct tape the intake tube so when I went to replace the intake filter here, it would no longer crank to idle. 😅

@1:33 of course it’s helpful and appreciated. The fact that all this information is available for free is extremely special to me. I appreciate just the fact you took the time to edit the video, that alone takes hard work and effort. Nice work.

So helpful. I took my truck in and told the counter guy, I have to let the truck warm up a long time otherwise it will either die when I press the gas, or it sputters and doesn't move for 20 seconds or so, then lurches into drive. Even after I'm driving for awhile it sometimes makes a jerking motion when accelerated. It also makes a ticking sound, most notable when started (lifter maybe?). The guy at the counter didn't even look up from his phone and just kinda nodded, I'm guessing bc I'm a woman and can't possibly know a thing about cars, even though I grew up with 4 brothers,dad,grandpa who r all gearheads and an uncle who's a high performance mechanic/drag racer. After 1wk he said we thought we fixed it but on test drive,found something else wrong... 2wks later he told me it was the trans wiring harness. I drove it home, seemed fine. The next day, same exact issues. No idea what cost 1300, but he's going to hear about it when I take it back!

If the hoses are really bad or the seal isn't good, it can cause the engine to start then stall out, idle rough or other things that may have you dreading major engine issues (ask me how I know...). I'm currently waiting for my OEM replacement hoses. Great video series!

Yeah and it’s a weird smell coming from my intake not the manifold but the intake it’s self so I’m replacing the intake soon as I can
@kurtbair66452 жыл бұрын
I replaced both of these hoses, though not at the same time. If you’re doing one, you might as well do both. Yes, they are a bit spendy, but if one is cracking the other is probably right behind it! (As I found out). Thanks for another great video!

I had lots of hairline cracks in the flexi piece. Very hard to find oem part, so I tried repair instead. I used black rubber spray (comes in an aerosol can) and black "liquid tape" on spots where cracks were a little bigger. Worked great, cost about $20 total, and still solid after 6 years on my '91 fj80 😊

My cruiser would stall in reverse low range. Couldn't figure out what the issue was until I looked at the inner intake(flexy). Was super cracked. Engine would torque it open in low reverse but ran fine in drive. Haven't ordered new intake yet but used some adhesive silicon to fill it up. Worked like a charm. But i will have to do a bunch of these repairs this you have done winter. Keep it up. Maybe do a diff breather upgrade? Mine are plugged and I've just popped em off and ran new hose up high and outta way for now.
