Try checking your “settings” app on a iPhone usually it’s difficult for thieves to copy the UI legally. If it’s the same as a normal iPhone then check the “About” section to see every detail of the device your about to buy.

One thing that i learned, usually focus on the packaging. Make sure the packaging is not opened. original box will be seal by an original sticker, which the sticker is really thin, and can't be pick by nail.
