I almost paid $40 for an original painting at goodwill. I looked up the artist and she was well known. Upon further inspection, it was a print not an original, but it was so realistic looking because it had the textured "look" of paper!

At 10:10 That is a Taos (school) hand carved frame, worth $500+. Don't separate it from the painting. Go to skinner or Christies to have it appraised.

Paint stroke show up in printed art as well just depends on how good the laser printing process is to pick up The Strokes. Number two the one with the two kids on it looks like a frosted glass and that would really make you see brush Strokes when there's no real authentic Strokes there. I tend to stay away from all frosted glasses when I'm looking for old art. There's a theory deceptive reason putting frosted glass on art it pleased with your eyes and make you see stuff that's not there and stuff that is there such as dots it makes you I think that there aren't any there.

The first piece is called a painting; executed in pastels. Looks South American, possibly Peruvian.

The reverse Victorian painted schooner worth at least $1,000 to 1500 between that price range. $50 price tag that's it. I think I better go into business like Dr Lori. LOL and especially if he was selling it around Florida or the California coast you definitely wouldn't be asking 50 bucks for that piece of art. Heck you can sell it to me for $50.

How do you tell between oil and water paint?
@TreasureHuntingDad
@TreasureHuntingDad Жыл бұрын
Oil paintings are primarily painted on canvas, board, etc. Watercolors will always be on paper. You can also tell by the texture. Oil paintings will have a texture to the while watercolors will not. Colors tend to be more vibrant with oil paintings, too.

That looks like a Japanese woodblock print to me and if you see one selling for $25 that's because the person that have it don't know what they have and if you see someone selling one for $300 that means they don't know what they have also it's. Especially if you say is looks like the one that you have there I suggest you really do a lot of research before you get rid of that puppy my friend LOL

Please please stop doing that repairing the frames. Wood becomes season after a certain amount of years. If you have a glossy finish on the outside of the frame and the frame is cracked under the glassy piece they can lift that piece up with their finger, examine the interior of the wood and sometimes get a better indication the age of the wood. But if you glue it down how can they see the inside of that piece. Do yourself a favor before you sell the item.......inform the buyer if they wish to buy as is or you can repair it for them, before you ship it off. A buyer will tell you what they want trust me they will. I'm an eBay seller myself and I found out the hard way that some customers prefer you to leave it as is.
