I dropped a diamond and cubic zirconia in a glass of water to see if they sink to the bottom.
Due to its high density, a real diamond will sink. A fake one will float at the top of the surface or in the middle of the glass. I tried this and it did not work
Then I tried
Heating up the two stones and to see if which one shatters. Heat up a suspect stone with a lighter for 30 seconds, then drop it straight into a glass of ice-cold water.
The rapid expansion and contraction will overwhelm the tensile strength of weaker materials like glass or quartz, causing the stone to shatter from the inside.
Real diamonds are strong enough that nothing will happen and by doing this test I found a result.
In this video, I used a diamond and cubic zirconia. I will get moissanite in upcoming videos

Sadly this won't work with glass or heavy gems. We been testing all morning and everything sunk like a hunk of metal but the magnifying glass told the truth. All were fake. All sank to the bottom lol it can be tricky

It work after testing I find it work but I still do fire test hard crystal test all of together stunning result but back braking hahaha I send it to lobs when tired I enjoy finding them. Diamond are very old so I can tell a lot about the environment are areas. Including space item mms rocks

Diamonds at room temperature remain below it. Zirconia is at room temperature and warms up quickly. I once saw a guy guess real to fake, simply by putting one in his mouth. He could feel how quickly they warmed up.

A little explanation: They don't actually remain below room temperature, but they feel cold, due to how well they transfer heat, and hence they cool down your skin when you touch them.

Please Use black light to show both of them, Consider that if people want to test their diamonds, most of the diamonds are already in a ring, pendant or any jewelry. your test are useless if diamond is mounted on a ring already, also, common people don't have tester, so it is better to show how to test in this specific conditions.

I used to test hundred of thousands of diamonds and a UV light or black wont work because there is a large amount of diamonds out there with absolutely no fluorescence

And a good rule of thumb is if the metal is fake holding a diamond then 99% of the time the diamond will be fake also

So I tested 4 different stones I suspected to be diamonds. The first two are fairly large and the other two much smaller in size. The first noticeably shattered on the inside. The second surprisingly did not. The 3rd did not shatter and still looks the same as before but now has small cracks.. & the 4th completely shattered. My question is, although the 3rd one cracked could it possibly still be diamond? & if so is it still of any value?

Try the sandpaper test, I have a video on it. If it gets scratched its definitely not a diamond use 100 grid sandpaper

Your suppose to heat it up longer than that to see if it shatters whencit gets put in cold water. But real diamonds will sink so when you said fail you said it when the diamond sunk.

The first part of the video is the sink test. The second part is the the heat and water test.

According to a lot internet articles fake diamonds will float. This is not always the case... it will depend on what type of quarts it is. Therefore I said fail because a cz also sunk (fake diamond)

You have to be careful testing very small diamonds in water because of their surface tension, they can float off with the water!

Yeah, the "diamonds float" only works if they are plastic, and it's obvious that those are fake. Even glass diamonds will sink.

I tried heat test on my suspected carbonado diamond I heated until color red then dropped on water. The stone didn't broke. I also tried sand paper test for scratching but failed. Any other test you recommend.

I found a very large (what looked like a) diamond this morning as I was cleaning out an old bag I haven't used for ages. @@erregi4946 Fake diamond look alike stones can handle heat or cold. but when you do not allow it to cool down from being heated or warm up from being cold, a sudden change of temperature from hot to cold it shock the stone making it shatter in this case internally.. A real diamond can handle the shock and not shatter from being really hot to really cold. The Cubic Zirconia would not have shattered if i did not put it water. I would normally use Ice water. Diamonds are made with high pressure and high temperature that is why they can survive the drastic change in temperature.
