How to test fuel pressure on 2011 Rzr.

Testing the fuel pressure on my 2011 Rzr. I was having symptoms of my rzr not wanting to start after the first initial startup. I would have to wait 10 minutes or so and then the rzr would fire up. Really annoying if you are on the trail and want to turn off your rzr for whatever reason and then get back on the trail. Having to wait 10 minutes between each time I shut the rzr off just wasn't any fun. The top end speed of the rzr also seemed "off" like it didn't have enough power. Which would make sense if the pump couldn't keep up. I tested right at the fuel pump connection using the 1/4" hose and received the same readings. Below 30psi.

Thanks Kendall! I’ve been having the same issue! Ive been so afraid to turn the machine off when on the trails and never would have guessed it was a low fuel pressure issue! I found this video by accident, looking for a cylinder compression video. Thanks again!

That can sure be the pump. My issue on my 2015 Polaris ace 570 was the same so I bought a pump and it came with a new regulator also that goes in the tank. I replaced the pump but not the regulator. After putting it back together I had the same issue, no change. So I pulled it back out and found that after running a little the pressure regulator would open more and more as it ran and would not close back. After sitting a while the regulator would close back and it would run great for a short period and then start running bad again and not start. Being the guy I am and wanting to be sure, I put back in original pump and replaced the pressure regulator and it has been running great for about 6 months. So after the regulator opened up it was bypassing fuel straight back to the tank and it was loosing pressure. Just adding this for someone that has the same issue as I did.

Don’t you need to bleed the air out of the test hose to get a good reading?

did you have to reflash the ECU after u did the higher PSI pump?

@@photokendall did you only install the 42psi pump? or the 58psi pump like for the 13-14 model?

@@VJMazalin Use the part number in the video. It fixed the low fuel pressure and the fuel pressure was correct in the 40psi range, not the 50 psi range.

I really need help my 08 ranger bogs down & backfires half throttle but when you floor it it won't bog out people are saying check the intake boot for cracks it has cracks but I don't think that would be the problem I think it's my fuel pump but there 10$ so I guess I'll get it see if that will fix it

Notsavagepinks Yes, cracks in the intake boot will cause backfiring. It's making your ranger run lean. If your fuel pump isn't working properly you can borrow a Guage to test it like in my video from auto zone or oriellys. Good luck and report back

Aaron Miller Yes, the new fuel pump fixed the issue.

The cause is likely not your fuel pump. Fuel Pressure Regulator is located in the fuel pump assembly and costs a lot less and is easier to replace.

It could have been the fuel pump regulator. I needed to get back up and riding again and I didn't have the time to wait for a regulator to ship. The fuel pump is far easier to replace than taking the old regulator off and hacking together a new one. Took me a minute or so to remove the fuel pump unit and drop in the new one. Yes it did cost a lot more, but it fixed the issue and was plug and play. Appreciate the reply. I did look into the regulator option but this was the quickest route for me to get back on the road.

@@photokendall I completely understand. My ranger's been down for months but I have a golf cart ds backup. That broke too. The Ranger has new/used injectors, plugs, set the resistance, air filter, TMAP sensor, fuel pump 2x and finally the pressure regulator. Still missing so will recheck resistance to .61. 2008 xp 700

Tom Conces did you get back up and running? I have done about all the same things you have listed on a 2009 crew 700 efi. It’s driving me nuts.

@@unclebenny7923 Yes I did. Actually took it to a shop. They replaced the entire fuel assembly stack. cost 400+ but has solved all issues. Good luck
