When I replace something like my injectors I try to go OEM which will run way over $100.00 for all 4, so knowing the injectors themselves were good, what I did was get a kit with all the seals, o-rings and on mine, new screens. Worked like a charm for under $50.00. A lot of times especially when someone has messed with them before they don;t take special care when installing them and pinch the seal (like on yours) which will end up with a fail. I once had a lean on bank whatever error with my 2006 Chevy Colorado with nothing in the codes about my MAF functionality and it turned out to be a bad O2 sensor. Just goes to show how these little tricks and a decent understanding of how you can disconnect stuff or spray things in certain places goes an awful long way to diagnose something. Of course, having a $500.xx set of service manuals always helps, too! (Something I thankfully bought for both my truck and my 2008 Saturn Sky Redline.) Thanks for the video.

Many years ago my Grandfather used to use a plumbers soldering torch (unlit!) to find vacuum leaks. A very gentle flow of butane and the engine would suck it in a leak and usually raise the revs. I've also used a can of lighter fluid!! Not the safest of methods, lol!! Great video as always.

When you vacuum leak check with Carb Cleaner or other, use the straw on the nozzle. It will help you pinpoint where the spray at the suspected leak source. If you need to extend it, use a piece of clear vinyl tubing. You want the spray source as close as possible to the item you are spraying. The spray will be more dense (spray fans out with distance) and easier to see the exact spot that's leaking that way. If you ever have to change 1 injector seal, change ALL of them.

When you unplug the MAF sensor, the engine will typically go into a default mode. This default mode uses preset values for fuel and ignition timing. There's no difference when I unplug my maf. So it will not cause it to die. If the computer does not recognize a signal from the MAF sensor, it will return to "stock default settings" and it will run fine. This helps to narrow down problems to diagnose if you have an issue with the MAF sensor or not.

Sounds like you have an electrical problem. Brakes, when applied, use a lot of electrical power, you might want to put a volt tester on your battery while the car is running and have someone apply the brakes and make sure you are not dropping below the necessary voltage to keep your car running. This is just one of many, many issues you could have but it sounds like you may be drawing too much power away from your injectors. Your other issues you may have with that code are 1. a vacuum leak 2. a problem with your intake manifold, it could have a small crack in it 3. a clogged or dirty air filter 4. wiring connections to your maf aren't good. Check everything that you can check and if it still does this, you probably have a broken wire of some sort. You may end up taking it to a certified repair facility my friend. What was the issue you were having with your car, the issue I'm having is my truck starts but takes a few seconds crank I'm thinking fuel pressure is bleeding off through the injectors via a bad seal. Sounds like either your injector controller has taken a dump or your fuel pump has taken a dump or your injectors all decided to not do their job at the same time. I just got done dealing with a P0101 code (MAF). After changing and checking all I could it ended up being a bad battery. I had an Oddsey battery and it had enough power to start the truck but not enough for the “brain” to operate. Swapping the battery solved the problem.

Always silicone paste all O-rings. Press & twist connections together. When in doubt of age, or if over 6 months old- never reuse O-rings. A spray bottle of plain water is safer, and just as effective- to help find vacuum leaks.

Having this issue with an 04 silverado 5.3 with intermittent check engine light and threw maf code… but had a buddy with a vacuum leak on his same model truck and his engine light stayed on all the time… he was diagnosed with a vacuum leak… verdict? Try this, disconnect both battery cables, let it sit overnight. Clean the posts and the terminals well before re-installing. 100% i took mine off while it was running, and ofcourse the car kept running. Hi.. Thanks for the video.. I have a touareg vw 2006 model has p0102 code and tcs light came on..thevair bag light also was flashing sometimes since long time..Replaced maf sensor.. It was fine for a half hour journey.. Tcs also went away..after hslf hour tcs light came on and scanned by odb2..code getting now p0101..totally confused.. Checked air filter snd hoses everything fine..intake manifold was removed once a time replace the head cover gasket.. It is fine fitted by looking..no leaks found anywhere.. I guess while code p0102 got i was got a misfire cilynder 1 and after multiple.. Do i removed out the spark plugs outvand checked one plug was little bent its metal rode where the spark occurs..removed out all plugs and coils..cleaned all with petrol and the bent plugs adjusted spark gap's and installed back andvsame time replaced maf sensor also.. After i am gettimg p0101 code.. Do uou have any idea about it..? It spatk plugs or coils damaged due to cleaning by petrol.? Is this bad coils or plugs cause this code..? I have a sudden or lazy pick ups sometimes while driving..gear shifting also not smooth sometimes.. But when clearing codes its runs fine for a hslf hour..after Tcs is on.. Air bag is also flashing some times....i am totally confused what to do.. Kind uour help please.. I am an Indian from Kuwait..

If you didn't replace all of your coils, now is the time to do so. Once you've done that start the car up and spray the top of the engine while it's running close to the intake and fuel injectors with this amzn.to/3ZH0X2q to see if you have a vacuum leak the engine rpm's will pick up if there's a vacuum leak, you need to spray around until you find which area is leaking. My 93 Pontiac Grand Am GT with the 3.3L V-6 when put in park will surge from 500 rpm to 1000 rpm but when put in drive it goes away and drives fine until I stop at a stop sign or traffic light then idles rough until I give it gas to go. Sometimes it will stall when I stop like it's not getting enough gas. I cleaned the MAF senor but still does it. Could it be a vacuum leak or maybe some other senor I'm overlooking. If it only does it when it's in drive, just leave it in drive LOL. Did you use this amzn.to/3MjGFIu and only this when cleaning your MAF? Also, make sure that your air filter has been replaced. You will also need to use this here amzn.to/3VX5rRT use the whole bottle on half a tank of fuel. We are doing these things to rule out the least expensive problems out of the equation. If doing these things does not take care of your problem, use this amzn.to/3LOiiRO and this will tell you what codes you are pulling up, once you do this let us know what codes you received and we will get you pointed in the right direction Kelly. Going to the car now to check to see if it's map sensor or not, if it's not my camshaft position sensor nor my map sensor what else could it possibly be? Oxygen sensor?

Denton, for the cost of the sensors these days, they are cheap for your year vehicle. Just replace every sensor that you have the ability to replace, this way you rule them out of the equation. Then after you do so, disconnect both battery cables, let set for at least an hour or more, reconnect and drive for 5 to 10 minutes. Thanks and hope this helps you out. I had some black soot or dirt on 1 of the wires on my MAF and I cleaned it, not sure if it is the sugar pill affect but my mileage went from 20.11 to 21.4 MPG but it was almost the end of the tank also. Hope it improves even more after this fill up.

I have a problem with my mass air flow sensor, I tried to clean it up and still the engine light comes up. Then I bought a second hand mass air flow sensor and change the one I have, and my engine runs smoothly no rough idle and no more engine light. When I test to remove the connector while the engine running it didn´t stop so meaning the one I put also bad? I saw also a video here in you tube regarding fulling out the contact while engine running, why my engine still running when I full it out the connector? can anyone explain pls.

leon if it is running good and the check light it out then you are good to go also if you disconnect your battery both positive and negative cables for 15 minutes and then reconnect then drive for 50 miles or so it will reset your computer back to default.

I'm just curious but I heard some cars can keep running even if the mass airflow sensor is unplugged, I believe it was older models cars? Would this be true for a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis? If not I have to replace the one on my moms car cause it continues to run, the idle changes a bit when unplugged and plugging it back in. I was going to clean it before replacing it but its so old I should probably just replace it.

For the cost of one for that year car, I would just replace it. We've found with that year of car, if it's running hard or missing, it's usually the coils, I would replace all 8 coils as well. You can have a vacuum leak, try this; disconnect your battery, both cables, let the vehicle sit overnight then reconnect the battery this will help the computer re-set back to default. I have a good one for you. 97 ranger 2.3 won't idle and pings when you gas it. Only code is for heaters in both o2s , replaced them and cleared codes and they came right back. Also replaced a bunch of other stuff. Still won't idle .

Good day bud, I'm after a bit of advice. I'm from the UK but the car I have uses the Ford 3.0 duratec v6. My car is a 2004. I have a problem where the revs take a while to settle back to idle and sometimes they can sit around the 1000 rpm. When I'm driving the car and change gear, because I have a 6 speed manual gearbox, the revs will rise slightly between gear changes. I have changed the idle control valve but it still does it. I also have no codes and no check engine light. Any clue to what this could be is very much appreciated, many thanks 👍

First thing you need to do is get your computer set back to default, do this, remove both battery cables and let it sit for 24 hrs. Reconnect it then drive 10 miles or so, if that doesn't do it then you need to get one of these amzn.to/3Ca2QeD and find out what the problem is. Usually if you do an air intake upgrade you will lean the system out, thats what we have found. Hey man... I had a bad injector I changed all eight injectors on my 2001 expedition and now I have codes p0132 and p0152... I changed the mass flow sensor, cleaned the throttle body and I still have both codes, also there black smoke a (little) coming out when there was none before the bad injector... Any ideas will be greatly appreciated... Thanks....!

Alfonso, first thing you need to do is disconnect both battery cables for 15 minutes. Then re-connect, and drive the vehicle a mile or two. If it still does it at this point, then you may have a bad injector, even though it's new. Start the vehicle up, disconnect one injector at a time and see how the vehicle is running. If you find one that you disconnected and it does not affect how the vehicle idles, then there is your bad new injector, or shall we say, your malfunctioning new injector. The black smoke is telling me that one of the injectors is running rich, or not injecting as it should. Also, make sure that all of your connections are good and that you installed the injectors that they are sealing properly. Hoping this helps my friend.
