4" on a 1/0 is my go to in spring. Run a tungsten 1/8 oz on 10-15lb braid no leader because water is stained. Usually less than 3' visibility around that time. As water clears I like 15-20 to 8-10lb floro.

I know this is old, it just popped up on my list, got an old bullwhip rig in mint condition last week. Looking through my portable tackle box and found I had a black salamander. I remember I used it 20 years ago and had awesome luck every time. Couldn't believe it's been hiding in this almost pocket sized box that long. Tried out the ol bullwhip and put on the salamander. Small farm pond. Watering hole for the horse's. Had some misses due to I was on moss, had a hit that just about jerked pole out of my hands, and then I hooked a nice loudmouth bass. Just about able to put my fist in it's mouth. Looked about 15+ inch. Since it's a very small farm pond, I got a pic and released it back. Didn't know how I was rigging this that it was called a Texas rig, but I never use a sinker either, just the hook.
@SOFishing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks awesome man congrats!! Yes when you use a sinker its called a Texas Rig and when you don't and I don't use weight most of the time fishing ponds that is just weightless fishing. Thanks for watching!!

Does it matter which kinda weight you use?
@SOFishing5 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't. It really just depends on the water depth, and what presentation you are going for.
@iancarrese12317 жыл бұрын
