Brian, the thing I REALLY like about you is you understand not all of us have the desire or ability to spend $$$$$$ on a rod and/or reel. So you give excellent alternatives for us to pick from. You have the honest desire to see people simply get out and fish. (Oh and I love it when your son is in your videos too!! Excellent parenting to create the next generation of anglers!!)

Texas rig is my #1 rig. I have started using a bobber stopper in front and behind the weight. I make sure the weights are hollow in the rear to hide the bobber stopper there. With two stoppers I get a 3 in 1 set up...Texas, Carolina, and pinned just by repositioning the stoppers. Thanks as always for the video.

River Rat Fishing TV ps that’s not a knock on you , it’s actually a compliment technically but i will say those lews reels are fuego 🔥i’ve owned a few and lews gets the award for best all around reel company best longevity , while shimano still takes the crown for best overall and best technique specific reels but favorite rods still haven’t caught up to the others hopefully they will they jumped on the scene quickly im sure they’ll get better and better and those who jumped on board early and stayed should highly benefit financially

Yet another reason why I follow you BLat, you remember your roots and keep it real. I like that you show options for those of us who aren’t pros or who can’t afford to drop $700-800 for a set up and don’t make us feel bad about it or only endorse the best stuff. Good job covering as much as you did, you’re right, it’s a very broad and grey subject. Keep it Sir, love your work!

Hey Brian I like to use the Palomar for my offsets and ewg’s but when it comes to straight shank I like to use the snell knot. I noticed that when I set the hook it pushes the hook up into the fish’s mouth a lot better than the palomar. Great video thanks

I have a 7'6" medium heavy Veritas with lews lfs 7 3 1 reel. I fish clear water and I use 12 to 15 pound invisx. And I have a 7'3" Heavy action Duckett Silverado with a lews lfs 7 3 1 reel. I keep it spooled with 30 pound power pro with 15 to 20 pound invisx leader that's about 20 feet long. I use it for night fishing mainly, but I've caught fish with both setups just fine. Only thing is I like the 7 foot 3 rod better for worm fishing and dragging jigs or carolina rigs. I find I don't move my bait as much with one sideways pull.

I love the Texas rig. ive started using flipping hooks more recently... but the problem I have with them is my hook point comes out and catches grass... I feel like I go through more baits
@mikesperko39214 жыл бұрын
When your point comes out in the otherside snug the point against the rubber bait
@The_Bass_Stunters4 жыл бұрын
James D I definitely go through more baits using a flipping hook due to the bait keeper. Also if your not using a snell knot with a flipping hook your wasting your time... Also you get one swing on soft plastics with flipping hook. Your out a bait if you didn’t or did catch a fish.
@fahrenheit-eu5im4 жыл бұрын
Stuntman D29 and the problem here is the Kissimmee grass and buggywhips. Sometimes the bait hangs up and just a twitch or gentle pressure to get it out will expose the hook. I’ve been buying the d-bomb by the 30 pack. But I keep multiple packs of sweet beavers and spicy beavers. Most of my bass fishing is done by kayak just because I enjoy it so I’m limited on space. I use a lot of zman stuff for saltwater so I may give the palmetto bugZ a try. Or maybe I should use my vantage if I’m planning on flipping
@fahrenheit-eu5im4 жыл бұрын
Also the TK133 seems to be helping a ton. Both keeping fish pinned and not destroying a bait every other cast. I’m typically pretty loyal to owner and vmc for most of my hooks but I like those
@JohnSmith-cf3nx2 жыл бұрын
How about a video on the best zman plastics to Texas rig and how and where to fish them. Can’t find too many videos on specific ways to fish zman plastics for bass. Say when the fluke bite is on which zman plastic is the best fluke imitator. Etc. plus my local stores have very limited selections so it’s hard to just pick one up to experiment. Have to order specific, it’d be nice to know what to order.

Ive become super addicted to weightless Texas rig. I CATCH some fish on the weightless 5" Senko. Heavy Fast and fast reel are a must. I like as light a line as I can get away with. 12-17 lb test clear line is nice. I like fluorocarbon but mono seems to work fine.

I’m not new/new to the channel. I am a subscriber, but I’ve always loved seeing your insight on life and fishing. I only have 4 rod setups at the moment for bass. I’m currently looking at purchasing a fast bait caster reel and heavy rod for frogging with heavy braid as my 5th rod. I have a medium heavy rod I use for Texas rig. But for punching is it wise to use a heavy cover frog rig setup or should I think about also purchasing a different setup down the road for punching? I fish primarily on a pedal stand up fishing kayak. I’m no expert, I just enjoy fishing with the tools I have. Looking to grow and learn more.
