Granted a little too fast to really follow along with, but this was a very good tutorial. Only issues is that Vertex Colors is not a thing it seems in the recent versions of blender. I believe Vertex Colors was turned into Color Attributes, just for anyone wondering

First, THANK YOU! Second, see my first point! :-) I've been struggling with this for way too long. Your video was perfect! It covered exactly what I need with no fluff. Using this technique I can now use all kinds of weight maps to blend textures for landscapes using B-Spline color ramps to create smoother transitions of colors and displacements. One trick I also learned (not sure how important it is but I use it) After using the Landscape Eroder, go to edit mode, select all and do Face -> Tris to Quads as the Landscape Eroder converts the landscape to tris.

Can this be used with a custom sculpted terrain? or just the generated by the landscape addon?

You'd be able to do the first one with any custom sculpted, but the second two rely on the Landscape plugin to work automatically. That said, if you're good at texture painting, you can always make your own to do the same thing.

Could just be an issue with the blender version you are using, try older or stable versions.

0:49 for some reason this isn’t working for me, when I do that step it just links the color ramp color and the material output surface without creating the viewer, I’ve also tried shift H but it doesn’t see to do anything, do you know how to fix this?

You need to have Node Wrangler addon enabled. Got to edit.preferences and enable Node Wrangler and then you can use the viewer node
