In this video we will be talking about how to think clearly from the wisdom of Marcus Aurelius. Marcus Aurelius was a devout student of the philosophy of Stoicism and constructed a series of autobiographical writings, now known as the Meditations.
So here are 5 ways to think clearly from Marcus Aurelius-
01. Train Your Perception
02. Learn To Control Your Emotions
03. Exercise The Dichotomy Of Control
04. Keep Virtues In Mind
05. Always Consider The Big Picture
I hope you enjoyed watching the video and hope you find these insights form Marcus Aurelius will help you in thinking clearly.
Even though Marcus Aurelius wrote it 2,000 years ago - his insights on Stoicism still carry strong weight today. Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy founded by Zeno of Citium in Athens in the early 3rd century BC. Even though it is over 2000 years old, more and more people are discovering how Stoicism is not only relevant to modern times, but can be applied in very simple, yet strong ways.

This is like the eightfold path. The idea is to deny your own perspective. You become like a "judge" who is impartial and determines the best way forward to protect all parties involved and all of the property. They're a practice of self denial.

I think it’s important to use healthy discrimination and wise judgment.. Say you need a babysitter for your kids. You’ve got two options. 1) A sweet lady with good standing within the community. 2) A known child molester. First you need to judge which person is right for your kids, and in order to make a good choice you’ll need a modicum of discrimination. Your children will appreciate your judgment.

Unity of them is good Balance of its individual separateness. As opposites as duality is good to consider. Each side by itself without its pair in mind is useful. And consideration of full removal of each is useful. To me anyway. So I do that to all I study

As an Abuser, whenever any of my victims call me out for being abusive, I link them this video and hopefully that sends them down the stoic pipeline of learning to accept my abusive behavior. "Do not judge everything based on emotion", I'll remind them when they are rightfully upset at me. "Train your perception" is a doozy I also pull out when they start trying to point to specific instances of me being a "bad guy". "Always consider the bigger picture!" or "Doncha think you should try taking a cosmic perspective?" I will condescendingly remark. Stoicism is truly my favorite philosophy (for you, not for me). Ciao.

As a young adult I was once described as a stoic, in a flippant way. I never understood the full, meaning until I listened to this video. In simplistic terms, this video describes me, my inner thoughts, my thinking and ultimately my resulting behaviours - even why, in a crowd or audience, I am stand on my own. I've often heard the term "the grass is often greener on the other side" but that is only half the story! What we subsequently come to find out is that it [the grass] "is just as hard to cut". Thank you so much for posting this video

With knowledge comes power, with power comes responsibility. For when good men that fail to act is when evil prevails. If you are reading thus, it is a sign that you are a good man. Sometimes we lose direction, but all roads lead to Rome when your end goal is set in stone. A problem I see with most men is lack or direction. I've always just wanted to die happy, the way I will do this is knowing that I never gave up on myself, only on those that had given up on themselves. Great men and women lead by example, live your best life and you will show others the wisdom they need through your own happiness. Be happy kings and queens, with little and alot. God bless 🙌

Jesus, this has been my journey since 20 years old..the last thing I learned is controlling my emotions. But, as he said at the beginning, it's a constant application. It's easy to fall back into the initial reaction...but it's important to step back and no matter what, remember one thing, that you need to step back..and when you're not doing what you're supposed to, It actually feels off. This is how I feel like you've achieved this truely.

Getting rid of judgement has single handedly been one of, if not the most impactful component which has helped me to significantly reduce my self induced stress, and start getting over depression. Eventually you will look at things objectively, try to learn from your past, and choose to see things through an optimistic lens. With this approach you can open new doors to exciting things which once bored you, and shut old doors that once made you feel trapt. This one simple thing can really change one's life. I'm happy to say that I actually feel like I'm finding my way now. 😌 One other huge thing that I overlooked which is really helping as well is forming a reading habit! Instead of being passive all the time by watching tv or playing videogames, set aside a bit more time each day to actively engage your brain by reading and/or trying to learn new skills!

Putting yourself in other's shoes before you judge them is such a HUGE thing that you can do to be a decent person. If you can't do this properly, start loving yourself more. Then maybe you'll love others.

The offense someone does is what it is, can be detrimental, and could always be. How you react to it doesn’t weaken the offense, especially one which causes permanent damage. However, you can move on from such a violation and not let it continue to hold you. I don’t believe the mind has the ability to negate the wrongdoing, but does enable the healing.

Thank you for these videos. Stoicism is the most rational and freeing philosophy school, it's really helping me to cope with everything what's currently going on while living in Ukraine (unfortunately, not every rule is applicable but overall concept helps to deal with bad feelings).

I applaud all ukrainians for their strengths and heroism in their fight of good versus evil. With most of the world on your side and with the God of this universe being all righteous and good be strong and never give up. God and all the God- loving Nations of this world will lead you to victory. My prayers go out to all the great unselfish people of Ukraine and always remember as tough as it is now always be grateful for even the smallest things. Life will get much better very soon. ´Marcus Aurelius is played by a fine actor in the grand movie "Gladiator" (or was it in "Ben Hur"?). That was the first time I heard of him and his teaching. I sensed it was important, although I didn't understand everything.

Luckily I learned to think this way in Kindergarten. My father always had to work late and I was the last one to get picked up. While no one was around anymore and I didn't really know what to do, I liked to just sit there, watch the birds, play with leaves and think "Maaaaan. It's not boring like other kids would say. I just am now. And that's crazy enough!" Do you know what I mean? To just be is kinda awkward. But you have to be, because you can't be. Therefore you can't think when you aren't so as a consequence you just can think that you are here now and exist. I'm not good with words so I can't explain what I mean concisely. But I wanted to say that from now on, your life or a moment can never be boring again. Because you're in a vast place and you can do everything you can do
