Just yesterday I submitted my portfolio for review, and the editor told me that I had to improve my planes separations, this is spot on! Thanks man

Thank you for all of your videos. I graduated a year and a half ago and didn't realize that coloring comics was what I wanted to do until my very last quarter. I'm trying to keep in touch with my professors and peers from school for feedback while I work on my portfolio but felt really overwhelmed and lost until I found your videos. They help so much. Thank you!!

Wow Michael, I'm kinda upset that I didn't see this video until now! This video is amazing! This is how tutorials should be - lots of artists just show what they do without showing why or their thought process behind their decision making. This is so insightful! One of the best comics-related tutorials I've ever seen! My only recommendation would be to split it up into smaller parts next time - I don't mind how long it is - but you would get more views by having more shorter videos :) Great job!

Just wondering, since I've been working way bigger and always run out of layers, but you always seem to have tons. (I am usually working on larger scale things, like prints but with a workflow like yours.)

I've been doing 9x12 at 600 dpi, so I can scale them up pretty big. It's probably overkill, no one buys them anyway.

I wish this had more information about highlights etc. The information about plane separation is great but I wish it was better about the focused lighting. Edit; turns out that your other videos have it. Haha!

How do you do that thing where you have stuff selected and then you check your selection by making the non-selected areas turn red? EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. There's a tool called "Edit in Quick Mask Mode." For me it's just under the foreground/background color tool. It looks like a little box with a ant-track circle inside, like a grayscale version of the flag of Japan. On my version of Photoshop you toggle it with Q.

I was wondering if you have a video of the workflow pipeline for coloring in Procreate? I have hired a colorist for my project who uses Procreate exclusively so I was wondering what file format is best to send to him and if Procreate can export a layered file to send back to me for lettering. Any light you can shed on the subject would be much appreciated.

I noticed I've been doing much of the same work before rendering lately. Of course, mostly thanks to your videos. Thanks! And I have a question: in the end when you returned to Photoshop to make a curve adjustement, I noticed that your rendering layers (shadows, lights and bounce light, that are masked adjustement solid colors) have an icon that looks like intersection mode of selection tools. What is it and what for? Do you know?
@ZethKeeper6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Micheal! I've figured that out. Turns out those icons appear when you go to layer style dialog and adjust "Blend If" sliders. BTW, those slider really helpful when you need to introduce some heavy colorized lighting. Try it out =)
