HOW TO THREAD A CAM BAND | Tank band, Ratchet Strap or Cam Band fitting to Scuba BCD or Tech Wing

Have you ever been confused about how to rethread your cam band? Has your tank strap needed to be altered and you don't know how to do it. In this video I'll show you how to adjust, rethread and fasten your cylinder or tank to you BCD.
Tank Straps come in many forms, but the most popular is the Cam Band. Fitted with either a stainless steel or plastic buckle they need to be threaded in a specific way to achieve a tight grip. In diving 2 is always better than 1, so if you can get a second tank strap it would be a good idea! I also show how another form of tank strap can be quite easily unfastened to the point of dangerous on a dive!

Great video Andy! I've also had difficulty getting my plastic cam bands tight enough. Don't forget that XDeep does also have Stainless Steel Cam Bands and oh my gosh, that thumbnail though...

Hahahah. Are you slightly aroused? #clickbait I love what XDEEP do as a brand, hence my comment, I use their Sidemount stealth 2 tec wing and my Mrs uses their single and twin wing. That was the only plastic cam band I had to use.

Good video Andy but don’t agree re Scubapro cinch bands, dived with them for years and no issues. I understand where the error could occur but there’s a connector on the strap which prevents the Velcro coming loose. As always it’s more likely to be human error rather than tech failure.

Cool 😎 video pal. I've got the scuba pro seahawk bcd with the stainless steel ratchet strap. Took a lot of messing around to get the length of the strap right but seems solid once it clips on

scott mcneill flicks open so easily for me so be careful not to bang it on a wreck or something or you might end up like that photograph. Or swap it for a proper one if you’re worried

Nice informative video! I own a Scubapro BCD with the stainless super cinch cam. My concern was the same as yours; when the velcro gets undone, the tank may not be fixed properly anymore. Therefor I rethreaded the band through the BCD, so the velcro is on the inside instead of the outside and is pressed firmly between the tank and band and cannot come loose. Whenever the velcro is on the outside, no matter the type of cam, it could get undone.

Great video, thank you for sharing although I disagree with you opinion on the Scubapro system, had 3 Scubapro BCD's never had a loose or disengaged cam band or seen one with other peoples BCD's

Ive seen several now which is why I mentioned it, could be down to a lack of proper adjustment / set up. They’re not for me though too many failure points and not enough back ups. Thanks for watching.
