My standstills started improving, as soon as i realised that activating my arm in the throw, made me throw the disc more upwards. Literally then i realised, that your ARM is the one factor that can mess up your throw in the backhand, so i thought; Then leave it out of the equation! (Like literally everyone say; Arm is just a rubber band) Then i started using my hips more, and my throws got a lot better

Amazing throws. I think you might've gotten closer than you think or possibly beat 380'. The last throw went quite a bit to the right. That would be farther than straight up the field. If you think about it, the distance of a football field corner to corner would be farther than just north to south.

Fun video. Will give you some hints…. Your upper body is actually utilizing the “shoulder tilt” of a ball golf swing. And the hips are a rotational socket not a muscle, which means you are actually rotating them to keep them out of the way while strong muscles of torso and legs are doing the work. Good work on your timing. Cheers.

Yeah you definitely don't need to run up as long as him but a run-up done correctly will add some distance and shouldn't hurt your accuracy that much

What is the app you are using to measure the distance you walked?
@DiscGolfKid Жыл бұрын
We used the UDisc app, then confirmed by walking it off - but honestly we also realized the football field is 300’ from goal line to goal line (100 yds) plus 30’ each endzone, so having the 360’ total benchmark also confirmed UDisc was spot on…

I only wish I could throw it that far even with a run up. I only use forehand for drives though because my backhand is pitiful. I have a bad hip though, so it's hard for me to rotate properly. That's my excuse anyway. My brother has what to me seems like a nice backhand but even he maxes out at 250. To think you can throw it 370 standing still is amazing to me. It makes me think the run up / approach isn't so important as what comes after. Or am I wrong ?
@DiscGolfKid4 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard A lot of top pros suggest that beginners only throw standstills until they feel comfortable with it. But there’s definitely a point where that extra momentum running up gives you an extra 30% more distance

What you need are the latest limited run Hotstamp discs that all the top Pro's are using...the more swirls the more distance they fly. Plain old production discs are for scrubs. You do not need to worry about having the throwing arm of a Pro...just bag what they throw...and you will be throwing like a Pro in no time flat. #endsarcasm. I have been stuck between 350-385 now for some time...I am starting to accept that at 50 years old...that is it. No Ledgestone for me lol....

Not to be the hater, but c'mon. Your tip to engage the hips is turn them all the way away from the target and then back towards the target? That's pretty common advice. I wish you had slowed down the speed of the video somewhere around 40 seconds in when you're demonstrating the motion and spoken about that more. I can do the part rotating the hips backwards, but the part I can't figure out is how you get the rear hip to go towards the target, like yours does when you say load the hips. I really think this is the part I'm missing. Can you help explain please?
@DiscGolfKid4 жыл бұрын
hmmm, I’m gonna think about that and maybe even upload an entire video. Hopefully it will help you.

Before I started working on my form it looked absolute trash lol but then I worked on making my form more like Simon's and Eagle's and I have gained 100 ft of distance and it looks better.
