In in 8th grade and 5'7 and about 190 and its my first year doing discus (Ive played football my whole life so im pretty built) For try outs i tried out for one thing:shot put. I made the team but wasnt a starter on shotput. I was good in javelin and shotput but was terrible at discus. My first two discus throws hit the wall to my right and my third flew only 60 feet.I soon thought i could never throw discus well enough to be a thrower at the meets. I soon got more interested in throwing the discus. After about 2 weeks of commitment i started throwing around 100 with a cheap rubber discus (1k) (also i was fronting it) Just last week my good friend brought his metal discus and during that time i somewhat mastered being able to spin and throw. After throwing about 7 throws i started throwing in the 108's. Next week i packed down my spin and now i am currently able to throw 117-121's.
@captnobvious13378 жыл бұрын
+K v y h s dats nice bro i wish i could front 115 but oh well, there was this dude at my meet that throws 140 with a spin and 115 fronting it, i was pretty impressed but once again i give you props cuz 115 i pretty good for fronting it

Left leg is entirely too high. Keep it low for speed and so that planting it for the release is fluid, as it is in the video the left leg is actually pushing towards the back of the ring rather than just stopping momentum from carrying him out the front.

I am a senior in high school with 5 years of throwing experience, Im 6'3", 250 lbs and my PR is 92 feet. Trust me that if your technique is off, you will never be able to throw well. I know that because I cant throw past 100 feet. I have seen skinny guys throw 120+ feet. Once you get the technique down you can start factoring in strength.
@peterruiz61178 жыл бұрын
I had GREAT technique. I would burn a half-circle into the discusand would feel electicity snap out my fingertips. In competition, guys a foot taller than me ,with terrible techwould wobble it out farther than me, having never thrown sometimes.I did it for the fun, and the track chicks .But a great throw, for me, felt great.

BL EH Tip 1: look where you want it to go. It may sound stupid but it helps. Tip 2: point your hand how high you want the discus to go. Tip 3: Swing your arm high and get used to all the things I’m saying. Tip 4: Get a coach to teach you the ways. Hope this helped you a little bit, Like I said I’m only 12 years old so I don’t really know as much as an adult but try your best that’s all that matters and work your butt off and you never know. You could be the next Olympian! :D

RyeBread115 my first meet in High I didn’t do the spin. The spin is the last thing you learn, first you start off with your power position, from there you work your way to a south, then you can start working on a spin. The spin isn’t something that you’re going to get in a couple weeks, if you do it won’t be perfect. But honestly it’s really good to learn the basic maneuvers first, don’t worry that you don’t know it now, sooner or later you’ll learn it
