First: your videos have gotten much better from years past; we’ll done. Doing a herringbone in a single color is challenging but with a bit of practice becomes second nature. You know what side is the base knot going up (away from the beginning standing end) as well as going down so you can use that understanding to split a pair. The only other issue is recognizing what two strands are paired. Recognizing pairs was the most difficult for me. Thanks for sharing. I’ve learned some new techniques from your video. Donald

No worries about the political ads! However, the timing of an ad straight after of Keith Lemon crafting a festive Mogwai was just epic. I was in tears!😂 No politics, just crafts🧰 And the video was great. Slow, steady and clear as always👌

Hey Nick! These tutorials are invaluable. I'm making my first whip under your guidance! I have a question though. Does this knot cover a larger area heel foundation than the last heel knot video you kept referencing in this video? You gave dimensions in the other video, and I didn't catch any here. Somehow my heel knot foundation is a bit larger in diameter than the one you measured in the last video (by about 6mm) and I was hoping the knot in this video might provide better coverage. Any advice? I am hoping I don't have to remove the foundation and start over. Thanks dude!
@UstedTubo187 Жыл бұрын
Follow up: The knot in this video did in fact cover my foundation quite nicely. Still don't know how this knot's coverage compares to the knot in the other video referenced in this video, but it did the trick for me. Video was easy to follow. A word of advice to beginners, definitely heed Nick's advice when he says not to tie it too tightly as you make your passes. If you wind it too tightly, you increase the risk of poking through a previous strand if you can't easily move the strands apart to fit the needle between them. You can always tighten up afterwards if need be. Thanks Nick! Now I have to figure out how to wax this thing!

I get my paracord from where you do but yours always seems to behave better than mine lol... yours will just sit there if you tie start a belly where as mine wants to slide down...

Nick, hello from Ukraine🤚. Please tell me the length of the cords and the number of layers for a 4-inch bullwhip. I'll be very thankful. P. S. I already made one six-foot whip thanks to your video, but there was a problem with the diamond plat, now I have mastered this plat and started making a second whip.

Hey Nick, nice to have you back! Question; since a lot of the high-plait-count comes as a result of paracord's width, has anyone ever thought of trying to develop WIDER paracord? I'm thinking if you had some wide (6-7mm), medium wide (9-10) and really wide (13-14mm) paracord, you could get a lot closer to how leather whips are built, minus the bolsters... I don't know how difficult it is to get suppliers to make different types of paracord but if it's not a huge deal, I'm thinking why adapt the construction to the medium if you can simply change the medium? Thoughts?

Perhaps sinkercord would work
@NicksWhipShop4 жыл бұрын
Hello Hiro, definitely an interesting idea. As mobi mentioned, sinker cord is around that size and I believe there are different diameters. The only problem I can think of would be ending the bellies. I don't think you could get the taper to end very small. Worth a try though!

Hi. I've followed your various tutorials on making bullwhips and they've gone very well. Although one problem i'm having is when i'm plaiting over the core strand just after the end of the second belly in 5 or 6 plait the whip becomes flat rather than round. any idea what could cause this? Thanks for the videos!
@NicksWhipShop4 жыл бұрын
Probably plaiting over the coreless paracord is doing this. I would recommend rounding out the core strand if you can by running your fingers down it and creasing it in the opposite directing to round it off more.

Incidentally, if you're trying to tie this knot with a leather strand, there are two widths of strand to choose from: 1.) Too wide. 2.) Too narrow. That's it. That's all you get.
