I know they're still an excess amount of cord at the end, but would the provided strand lengths be enough to make a 4 strand diamond handle pattern?

Hey Nick, quick question, how do you calculate the length of strands for each layer. I am trying to plan out an 18’ whip for my wife but struggling with the lengths.

Construction 550 paracord is made with a 7-strand construction, while 650 paracord is made with a 32 carrier braided nylon construction and a 4-strand textured nylon core. Diameter 550 paracord has a diameter of 0.16 inches (4 mm), while 650 coreless paracord has a diameter of 0.20 inches (5 mm)

(i dont think its a good idea) but i used fine sand instead of BBs cause i didnt have them, works just as well, though, i am afraid that in the long term use, the sand will grind down the core alot.

your knowledge and ability to convey information in a relaxing and easily engaging way is top of the line. on top of that, your videos and cinematography and care to details are just as good. thanks for making these videos nick. you've been the main factor in my choice to begin whip making.

You can go over knotwork with a lighter to tighten it up, but be careful

Wouuld it be possible to use a needle and open the core where it starts showing, then running the fall inside it, coming out the end instead of having them ocme out parallel. Like you did when making the fall loop. maybe it is unecessary but i will try as soon as i can afford the amount of paracord needed. It is around a dollar per meter here at least the 4mm

Have you ever used solder it comes in all different sizes and might add a little weight and some have no lead or just a lead blend.
@hugogonzalez4445Ай бұрын
Hey Nick! Great video! Didn’t you used to build up the knot foundation with strips of leather? Why did you switch to lead?

Totally NOT following the instructions, mainly listening in for whip insights while recycling a 3m whip I never should have made, especially not by simple scaling up the measurements for a snake whip. Most of the cord has become a stock whip thong based on the tutorial that you did with Adam, which turned out nicely, now I'm finishing an 80cm snake with the same tapered twist style 2-point hitch. Thanks Nick, and ig everyone else, keep experimenting 🤘🖖

I used this technique to make a 1m snake whip and it slaps. Started with a doubled-up 4m piece and added a loop every 20cm ending in a 10 plait with 30cm of the core loaded with BBs. Used the end cap of an old broom handle.

You should do something with the history channel. The fact these were used to on people throughout history as means of control is astonishing. The power in the whip as it made contact with their flesh would have caused unfathomable pain. Think it would be great in helping people see just how evil certain acts in history were.

Excellent video,, thank you. Would this small whip be a good first project? I've made paracord floggers, and I know the basics of metis fingerweaving, which I think is a relevant skin to braiding whips.

Nick, I have made 4 of your whips and I think I can make this now, can you help me understand when you use lacing tape, when you use nylon binding, and when you use artificial sinew?
@drachimeraАй бұрын
Oh, I found the answer in your current materials video! Use sinew when building the heel knot on the layers or where you don’t need to taper rigidity…. Use electrical tape over the be bees, use sinew to build something up. Use lacing tape OR nylon thread at the transition….. lacing tape binds about 3X faster than thread. Use the lacing tape wherever you need to bind closely together I.e overlaps. Use sinew to bind the handle. Use hockey tape as a mesh to keep binding from falling into the space between braids

52:35 2nd belly, third strand drop (from 8 to 7 plait), just looking to confirm that you dropped it here (left it long) because of where the drop was in relation to the belly underneath? In other words, did you drop it here so that you werent stacking this drop on 2nd belly on top of a drop in the 1st belly?
