I have a question about a square and a diagonal lashing. Comments are disabled on those videos so I came to this one. Hello. what is more secure a diagonal or a square lashing for tying say round or square pieces of wood to my cars roof bars. Thanks for any advice.

Always a square lashing, which provides more contact between the poles and the rope. Diagonal lashings are best suited for springing two poles together where they intersect and do not touch. (It has nothing to do with at what angle the poles intersect, and got its name because the wraps run diagonally to the spars, whereas with a square lashing, the wraps run at 90 degrees to the spars.)
