The uni is also very popular as a method of joining main lines to leaders. You're basically tying a uni onto the main line with the leader and a uni on the leader with the main line. Then the two knots simply jam together when you pull out the gap between them. Not the strongest connection knot out there, but very compact and easy to tie correctly.

Putting the tag line through the loop 5 to 7 times is NOT ENOUGH. I just hooked a good size fish this week, and it straight pulled my knot loose somehow. It wasn't more than a 10 to 15 pound fish, and my drag was loose enough to not snap the line. Then it went limp, and when I pulled in my line my hook was gone and my 65 lb test line was not frayed. It looks like it just pulled my knot loose, and I am STILL PISSED.... 😖 I used to tag my loop 7 times, but now I'm going to tag the loop at least 8 to 10 times this time, because if I lose another fucking fish like that I'm going to go ballistic!! 🚀 💯

No chance I’m doing this standing up with mono line
@ezedjay5 жыл бұрын
I do actually tie this standing up with mono line all the time - it's one of the easiest of the good knots to tie with mono when you're standing - even in wind and rain. The stiffness of the mono is what makes it so easy - the initial loop just stays open and the tag end can be passed through and held with your teeth between each turn. It's also the only knot that has never, ever let me down. Even pulling for a break when you're properly snagged on something it never seems to break at the knot. I only go through the loop 5 times....knot sure if that's why? I learned this knot from the back of the piece of card in Drennan hooks back in the 1980's and it instantly replaced blood knots etc. for me.
