I think it’s one of those flies that is taken for a buzzer or just a lure.

Blobs/Fabs/Boobies bring the fish closer to the team. Then cormorant/cruncher/wee devil will be what the majority of the fish take. Your attention to the important details are one of the reasons you have earned your place and success over the years. That fine rib not only secures and protects the herl body. It provides that subtle segmentation with the slight extra glint of life. Without detracting from the just eat me factor. It still looks safe and tasty. In your face can work on it’s day. But personally I find most trout especially resident as against fresh stocked take the safe option over the monsters.
