Awesome channel! I used this video a few days ago to help me retie my brake line after I had adjusted it. It's a great video because its simple and straight to the point!

Cheers dude, that's exactly why I did it. I tie my brakes about as often as I tie a tie (once or twice a year) so having a quick reference video to just look it up when I needed can be quite useful.

Thank you! The Bowline, of course a great knott. Ive trusted it to hold me while tree climbing so very happy you recommend it. Best wishes. Dan. Kent, England

Nothing more relaxing than watching a bowline with a half hitch back up to calming music
@simhathecat10 ай бұрын
it's not a bowline though

It took a few times to realize the loop is on the trailing side, not the leading one!

Bowline works well for this purpose. The only problem may be to hide the remaining free end, if you don't like it flapping around. You can tie several hitches around the brake line to hide the free end. Or you can bend the break line end in-two (like U) and tie the standard bowline using the doubled free end, like you would use the single.

Amigo buenos días, el nudo se llama As de Guía, la forma como lo haces en el vídeo tiene un error, debes corregir lo. Gracias por tus vídeos.

Being a climber I always wonder if we could use a figure 8 for the brake lines
@chilli83645 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely use a fig-8 for a brake knot. I recently had mine in fig-8 + fisherman’s bend (basically exactly like ya tie in). It’s fine, but I prefer a double bowline + fisherman, because it’s not such a pain to untie when I want to. While that’s not frequent, I’m sure you can imagine the [mild] aggravation of peeling apart a fig-8 from thin line that’s been repeatedly loaded over a long time. :)

thanks for the video! I'm curious -- I have a lot of slack left after I took a few inches off my brake toggle. I don't feel like it would be a good idea to cut it... is there a way to easily wrap up the excess?

Phi Le yep, i prefer a figure of eight knot and a few half hitches thoughas the tag end will be pointing away
@chilli83645 жыл бұрын
No, Phi. It’s actually not a bowline. It’s close, but passes through the loop the wrong way. It’s a neat knot nonetheless, but not a bowline. I posted a video of a double bowline with a fisherman’s bend backup for a friend of mine a while ago, that you’re welcome to check out if you want (kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5uaimtonrVnjrM). Though I should warn you that the production quality and brevity are not anywhere near as good as this video (hence keeping it unlisted). Even if I don’t prefer this knot, it’s effective and this video is certainly a nice one. ^_^

I think the last move of bowline is wrong, I must come out of the circle as the way it gets in.
@ChristianBacker6 жыл бұрын
maybe it´s not ment to be a standard bowline?
@markbailey60515 жыл бұрын
That's not a bowling, he probably meant to tie one but it is easy to get confused.

I agree with Lutfi. The snake comes out of the hole, around the tree, and back into hole. One can't emerge from the hole twice.
