Dammit boi. Ur a concrete finisher and a Rodbuster? Ur the man

Yah Ive learned a thing or two over the years lol. When I was young I actually went to Ironworker school to join the apprenticeship. But ended up going back into concrete but also only worked for people in commercial concrete and performed all phases from form work, rebar, and finishing. Super blessed to have worked and learned that way because it definitely gave me a lot of options and not to only be limited to one skill when there are so many to be a true concrete mason.

Thanks bro I've learned how to tie rebar doing commercial concrete for half of my career of 22 years. Pliers and a tie wire wheel are the only way in my eyes
@nhickcox022 жыл бұрын
When doing snap ties If you cross your arms before you pass the wire behind the bar you get an extra twist in the wire..... meaning holding the pliers in your right hand pass the wire around the right side of the bar and grab the wire with your pliers (being held with your right hand) on the left side of the bar

We in Australia use end cutters nips which is faster than pliers and we don't use snap ties they are dangerous as it snaps while pouring concrete we use caulties and bolts with use form ply and 4×3 timbers witch stronger
@turkishwhiteout3 жыл бұрын
That’s cuz you aussies don’t no how to to make a good snap tie. A snap tie done properly won’t break under concrete...

Have u ever used a wire tie gun? I never have cuz we don't really use rebar around here
@thatjuanshow44852 жыл бұрын
I've used tie wire guns my opinion on them is there way to expensive for what they can do . Your limited to only one style tie and they don't tie very tight the jam a lot and if you are going to use them it's best to only use them on slabs so a tight tie don't matter as much. I think wire wheel and Kline pliers and the only way to go. I've had people use them in a commercial work setting and had the inspector call us out on sloppy ties. Just my opinion
@GRUBB-MUDD2 жыл бұрын
@@thatjuanshow4485 I've never used 1 b4. I have used twirls though, they don't get tight at all
@karloz416.3 жыл бұрын
I would’ve set templates with the verticals every so often then lace up the horizontals then fill it in . So your don’t do double the ties.
@thatjuanshow44853 жыл бұрын
Good idea I'll keep that in mind👍🏼

Was looking for this comment. Then the wall is more solid with even less ties, that’s how we do it in the field.

At 3 minutes in. I'm going to have to get this down. Doing a yard project is so I'm new to concrete but, my rebar kept sliding down. I was wondering, do they make stakes will drill holes 3ft and taller? Can see to find any. I'm doing a 2ft high retaining wall in my backyard.
@thatjuanshow44852 жыл бұрын
Are you building a wall with no footings? If so a lot of 2x4 stakes and 2x4 gussets would hold you straight along with what ever size clips your using at one foot on center top and bottom and each side of upper and lower seems. I recommend pouring a footing the setting wall on top I've seen alot of walls fail in my life with no footings they tend to fall over. And if you're going mono footing wall pour and a concrete supply store they sell mono cleats that nail to your footing forms then clip sits on that and forms will sit in them. So many ways so many possibilities I hope this helps And if not hit me back up and we'll try again. Good luck
@smallnuts22 жыл бұрын
@@thatjuanshow4485 thanks, I'll look into doing footings. I'm in Phoenix, barely rains but the reason I'm doing this is because I leveled my backyard. So making a 2ft high retaining wall 8 inches thick 20 ft long.

Why would you build the outside and then do the rebar? So you’re not screwing yourself from walking around in circles
