Tim, it is so good to see young guys taking an interest in the trades. When I started doing carpentry in 1975, the whole crew was in their 20s except the boss carpenter. He may have been in his 40s or 50s. I'm in Maine and we don't need all that steel in residential work.

The concrete company I work for has 3 of the regular tie guns and one of the bigger ones. We mainly use the regular guns but the bigger one is very nice when you need it. They work very well especially if you have a lot of room to maneuver the gun. If area is to tight you might struggle to get it to tie but they are awesome now that twin tier looks even cooler when it’s time to upgrade I’ll definitely look into that one.
@concreteforming Жыл бұрын
The big ones are so sick. Still can't tie 2, 30 mm bars together though which sucks for me bc I had to wear a klien wire reel to tie. Mondays a new site so I'm stoked to be able to rip the bar gun again

Nice job. How come they didn't make you epoxy in the 10 foot bars?
@AwesomeFramers2 жыл бұрын
because the detail shows them not drilled or embedded into the footing.

>>>used both the max and makita tie guns, max has an advantage but was around $1k more, also the ammo is more expensive. max can tie larger bars but makita will work fine in 95% of residential rebar mats, so i'd say either gun will work ties are strong enough to climb like a ladder. I don't do much flat work but there is a gun designed for tie'n bar at your feet that looks wicked
@polishman41682 жыл бұрын
If I may give you a tip , your marked verts or template bars , I would just put them every 4 ft and put blank ones in between 🤷♂️ And just tie the wall 50% , also your horizontal bars mark out three on the ground wherever your holes are drilled and boom everything should be straight , throw your template horizontals one on top one in the middle , tie em solid and the rest is history , I’ve done rebar for 7 years , might help out with your efficiency 👍🏼 Also great videos

I bought the Makita gun and while it does speed things up the tightness of the ties is not what I Expected. how much tighter is the Max gun compared to the Makita?
@AwesomeFramers2 жыл бұрын
much much tighter. Max has been at this for decades and is the leader.

So I just heard that you use same tie wire on the top to pull the rebar in position. Why not use rebar spacer? And put them on the side where the distance is just 2” to the wall outside? I’m pretty sure you get the spacer in the right size.
