How to tie Shipmans Buzzer

Almost from day one as these came out I came up with my own twist that served me well. After the thread just add the rib be it monofilament, copolymer, a thin cut plastic sheet, thin tinsel, or wire. No poly yarn yet. Add a thin dubbing noodle of a blend of seals fur for the required shade/mix. Wind to 2/3 or 3/4. Add the rib. Now add the poly yarn so it is at head and rear of thorax. The rear poly yarn double as wing buds. Now add the same or darker blend of seals fur or add some natural hares mask or squirrel to the thorax blend wind on the thorax slightly heavier than the body. Whip finish with a drop of resin. Lightly brush the thorax. Cut the rear breathers short. Job done. The fly will sit slightly tail down in the water both fished on or under the surface. Just add a small amount of Hunts or Gink to the head breather. It also works with a thread, floss, tinsel, film, as in VHS video tape. Or with a stripped quill body.
