When I was a furniture and appliance delivery driver the slipped constrictor was our go-to in the battened furniture trucks - quick and reliable, never had one let me down

This knot works great in tandem with the noose knot. You know, for those who need a good knot to anchor the other end of their rope. And the slip variant allows emergency responders to recover the rope without having to destroy all or part of it, ensuring that the length of rope continues to be useful to the world longer than ever was its previous owner.

Yeah looks like a great knot to stop a 60kg object falling about 6ft.

Hey, thanks for filming this from the perspective of the operator, not from an observer's point of view. So many instructional videos are filmed from the "front", which makes it hard for people to use the video to guide them through the process when they are executing, since they are looking at in a reversed perspective.

For added security of the slipped variation add a toggle into the bight and pull the working end to secure

Awesome video. I like to tie a clove hitch and then sneak either free end of the rope around the outside of one of the hanging sides of the "x." It doesn't seem to matter if you use the standing or working end of the rope--which ever is more available. A clove hitch isn't a bad knot to have to begin with, and a constrictor knot seals the deal if you need a knot to tie a bundle or to begin a tourniquet. No bight needed on a constrictor knot. Just start pulling on corners of the "X." You'll find that caddy corner sides constrict further, and caddy corner sides loosen the knot.

Hey Hi, thanks for video. I have a heavy object that's suspended through my garage ceiling. Even though I have it tied up, I would still like to end it with a very secure knot. Can you please suggest which knot to go for? Thanks a lot!

i also like the method where you tie it as a clove hitch then bar over the first turn ..then tuck the tip under the 1st turn...

I'm going camping and the place I'm going to can get winds up to 40mph sometimes all day. Would this be a good knot to use to tie down my tent?

Just an idea, could you show a good knot to use when your tying down stuff in the back of your truck with rope?
@JamesRJKR9 жыл бұрын
+BROUSBLADES I'd say you buy ratchet tie down straps with J hooks.

yeah I agree and I have a ton of those, but lets say you only had rope.

Trucker's hitch or Wakos transport knot.

For the driver's side anchor point either a bowline, clove hitch, two half-hitches, or the slipped constrictor he just showed. Then on the driver's side tie a trucker's hitch. There's about a thousand videos on KZbin showing how to tie one.

Saw your Lifehacker constrictor knot piece... You really kind of left it hanging incomplete by not showing (or even mentioning) methods for properly tightening. The constrictor is for all practical purposes useless unless tightened firmly... and tightening it is usually much more involved than tying it. I like the two marlinspike hitch method, pulling between hands & feet, but there are many others that do just as well. There was no mention of the Double Constrictor as well... also, what is the 'imminent threat' your offering 'tacital' solutions to?

That is a constrictor *hitch* You might discuss the difference between a knot, a bend, and a hitch. There is a difference.

But what about a double constrictor knot?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!
@fungames243 жыл бұрын
Just do the second wrap twice. If you wrap that 3 times, you will have a triple constrictor knot.
