Might be a dumb question, but I'm kind of new to all this. Does brushing out "trapped fibers" loosen the wraps at all or is it pretty secure by the wraps themselves?

The trapped fibers are really the long ends of the fibers. The center of the fibers are trapped by the thread. When you twist the dubbing loop, you are kind of making a rope that firmly holds the dubbing. If that makes sense. The dubbing he is using has long fibers.
