Hey Karl, You make everything look easy. It's cool how you stop in between breaks and explain what you did and why. When you start your classes, your pupils couldn't have a better teacher. If I was a young man again, I would be in your class. Love your channel and videos. Take care and be safe.

Nice welding Karl, a panel repair industry guy told me one test they got at tech was they get a sawn in half car door and you make the other half and fusion weld it together with oxy acetylene torch no filler rod to be used

Like your work. Us old guys hammer welded we worked the weld not the metal. Pre tig just gas welder. I've a mig and tig. But just fall back on what I was taught. We're not building the space shuttle. Just don't to use filler. Weather it be lead or bondo. Your teaching skills are very good. You don't grind welds you cut them ... metal have feelings too😢

very nice. interestingly, my experience of mig is that having a tight gap/no gap pretty much guarantees distortion. mig tacks shrink a lot, touching edges have nowhere to go and end up overlapping/distorting. planishing mig tacks is horrible. all of this is compounded when you are welding in situ on a car and have poor/no access to the back of the panel.

Hi Karl, I absolutely agree with you on the use of 3M products. If you’re doing a job and need materials and 3M make them, it’s a no brainer to use their product. They outlive other products, guarantee the performance and make the job faster. Ok, they’re not the cheapest you can buy but they will save you a lot of money in the long run. I’m not sponsored by them at all and have no links to their company, but when the products are this good, why not use them

Really curious on what you think of the new handheld arc welder ?
@danamcintyre3565 Жыл бұрын
I think consistency is key with gap no matter what type welding your doing ? Now a question when welding, how do you fill about welding say a weld being more than three feet in length should you weld the hole weld or what if you were to stop say something come up and you was away for say forty five minutes to an hour before finishing your weld would you check when done for a difference in for a warp ?

Sharpie is an awesome tip! I have used liquid whiteout for years. I have had that shrink bite me a few times while mig welding long panels. Was curious what gauge of sheet metal, you answered that right at the get go. 18g. Heat affected zone was a term used in some reference books if i recall correctly.

I like getting good tacks with stainless wire and filling in the gaps with silicone bronze because of its low melting point. Keeps some of the heat out of the panel. I wouldn’t use silicon bronze on anything structural obviously, but something cosmetic like a grill, all day
