You should have a 1/2 inch of play in that chain my man , you will break chains/kill clutches and sprockets having it that tight .
@OcotilloTom
@OcotilloTom 3 жыл бұрын
Good video but you missed a couple of things. Every chain has a tight spot. To properly adjust a chain you have to adjust it when the tight spot is located half way between the front and rear sprocket. To find the spot. Put the rear frame up on a jack or block so the rear tire can be spun freely without the wheel or chain rubbing the jack or block. On the Coleman remove the plastic primary cover that's over the clutch so you can see the front sprocket. Now locate the place on the upper portion of the chain where it is 1/2 way between the front and rear sprocket. Take the chain between your thumb and forefinger and move the chain up and down and take note of the tightness. Slowly rotate the rear tire continually noting the tightness or looseness as the chair rotates. When you find the spot on the chain where it's tightest point is 1/2 way between the two sprockets that's the point where you adjust it. Like in the video loosen the axle bolt(s). Then loosen the adjuster lock nut on each side of the axle. Turn the adjuster bolts EVENLY on both sides of the axle until the chain has 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of up and down slack (or the amount the manufacturer states in the manual). Once you have the correct amount of slack in the chain tighten the adjuster bolt locking nuts. NOW to insure the wheel is tracking properly either measure the amount of bolt thread showing on each adjuster bolt or you can also count the number of threads exposed on each bolt. They should be the same on each side of the wheel. If they are not evenly adjusted the rear tire will run down the road at an angle causing stress on the chain, clutch, sprockets and uneven wear on the rear tire. Once the tire is running true and the adjuster bolts are even on each side, re-check the adjuster lock nuts and snug them down and tighten the axle bolt to the manufactures specified torque. Now is a good time to oil the chain. There are many chain lubes on the market, find one that suits your type of riding best. Place a piece of cardboard or other type of barrier under the chain so you don't oil your driveway or garage floor. Slowly rotate the tire while you apply the chain lube onto the top of the chains pins and rollers. DON'T spray like your trying to put out a fire, your only going to make a mess and waste chain lube. Once the entire chain has been covered, slowly rotate the chain to allow penetration of the lube then let it sit for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes take an old rag and hold it gently under the bottom chain and rotate the tire to remove the access oil that will be slung off onto the bike or you once you ride. I'm nearly 75 years old and have been riding since I was 12. I have owned many types of motorcycle over the years. They all had either chains, drive shafts or pully belts. I have used this method on every chain driven motorcycle or motor scooter I have owned in 60 plus years of riding. It's always worked. Keep your knees in the breeze and Ride safe!

I noticed that the chain slack varies along the length of the chain, so you are saying to adjust the chain somewhere between its loosest point and its tightest point. I'm new to bikes and I'm just trying to clarity

Very Helpful actually. Short and straight to the point of what needs to be done. That's the way I like it ! Thanks ! Going to do this on my mini bike right now while it's fresh in my head cause I just put a new 420 chain on mine after I added a Torque Converter but my chain is way loose now. So after I do this it should be good to go. :)

I have the same model just a 2020 and let me say it's just a shitty honda clone engine but I was maxing out on my speed at 25mph. I took the jackshaft off and I haven't even tested full speed but I've literally gained so much speed. Went from 25 to 41 and the governor us still in it and it's still stock. thanks for this vid I'm new to riding and this has helped me quite a bit.

Don't you need the jackshaft? I just replaced the bearings for my jackshaft but doesn't that drive the chain? I'm trying to get my warrior mb200 to go faster. I got it up to 28 mph and haven't done anything to it and in running the predator 212 motor.

Hey so I'm sorta lost here.. any enthusiast assistance would be greatly appreciated. Not a gearhead by any stretch of the imagination but i can follow a manual or clear instructions. So I don't know if I'm just not used to using these sorts of motors or what, but essentially the issue I am having is that when i start the minibike, and then i pull the throttle, the chain doesn't move, but the engine makes noise like it's working very hard, However the bike doesn't take off, or thrust forward in other words. I got a little movement once, and then i couldn't replicate it. I thought, what if I start rolling and then pull the throttle? Didn't work. So maybe I just don't know the steps? Or could this be some sort of hardware failure? Someone take me through the steps verbatim of starting this machine, from flicking the switches and pushing the choke, run me through everything you do right before you take off, so that I can see if i'm missing a critical step. Sorry for the wordiness.
@bagged1891
@bagged1891 4 жыл бұрын
Michael Johnson it may be that your chain tension is broken and needs to be fixed, which is what makes the chain tight. if the chain is too loose on the clutch the bike basically wont move. im not a gearhead either and am dealing with the same problem
@chadharvey4489
@chadharvey4489 4 жыл бұрын
If its revving and not moving then your clutch is toast , get a new centrifugal clutch or if you are running a torque converter you need to take it apart and check the springs .
