Thank you Nicole, I love your pool, you are an inspiration. I'm building a pool similar to yours in Puerto Rico, similar size and similar tile. Thank you for making the video and posting it.

How did they hold up. I tried this in 2009 and thought I did everything right but they all fell off. I believe I used the right motor but didn’t use the glue you used. Our pool fills up high w water sometimes in winter so thinking maybe tiles were at ice line? Thinking about doing one side with the glue you suggested, and see how winter goes. Also I have a humidity tester bc we were doing our basement floor , not sure what the min humidity should be.

Nicole you used a tile adhesive that clearly states in the specifications NOT to be used in swimming pools

I noticed the same thing. Glue is for indoors! You must use thin set cement!

I’m hoping this works out Because this looks like it was done very wrong. Did you use mastic instead of thin sets and you should have used an epoxy grout instead of a regular grout.
@MichaelBoerop5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your nice response. Yes, The tiles are all still in place and the pool is great. The children say :-)
@vinceking7195 жыл бұрын
So epoxy grout? I am getting ready to do my water line tile and stopped by a tile shop. They tolde to use regular grout. I been worried that is wrong advice. Especially with salt water.
@MichaelBoerop5 жыл бұрын
Sorry, i have no experience with salt water, yet.
@krehbein4 жыл бұрын
vince king Old post, but you can use regular grout. Thing is you have to check the specifications to find out if it can be used where tile is submerged, and how many days before you can fill the pool. Same goes for thinset. Not sure if that premixed mastic she used is meant for underwater. Anyways, mapei makes a rapid setting thinset and grout that allow you to fill with water after 3 days. Most grout and thin sets require 21 days.

Since this video was made, have there been any failures with the tile due to the premixed thinset you used?
@MichaelBoerop3 жыл бұрын
No, not at all. The tiles still look great and are easily cleaned after the winter. Sometimes I wish that we did the whole pool with these tiles (as maintaining the paint takes much more work!)
@andystoe9984 Жыл бұрын
Pink primer that's probably acrylic primer ... Not ideal for a swimming pool... Try synthetic penetrating primer , tanking and S1 tile adhesive not acrylic ready mix tile adhesive you will thank me after this winter (if you are in a country where you don't have a winter I am guessing this is fine as long as the render is water proof )... Also epoxy grout is a better option for grouting as it's stronger and easy to clean
@davidsimmons9763 Жыл бұрын
I cannot believe that the glass is not falling off! You should NEVER use glue in a pool!!! Thin set cement only!!!

Your doing so well Nicole, 😁 we go to Bali every year and see stunning plunge pools, it's definitely the way to go, who wants to look after a huge pool, not me ... I'm watching every episode you put up, we are thinking of using a 5000 gallon plastic rainwater tank as a pool, still looking at options though lol, the tiles are beautiful, maybe we could use tiles also, I'm unsure on a round pool but maybe small ones like you have used would be fine ... it gets sooo hot where we live and NEED !!! a pool badly ... watching from wide bay Qld Australia 🇦🇺 😁😁😁♥️

Why didn't you put a main drain in the bottom of the pool???
@MichaelBoerop3 жыл бұрын
When we started, it was already complicated enough... We were afraid of leakages for example not being professional pool-builders. Maybe I would put a drain if I do it again, having more experience now. However, a submersible pump works also. We do not drain the pool often anyway.
