In the mid 70's my brother from Canada sent me some bass fishing tackle, and a truckload of soft plastics, worm hooks, jig heads and spinnerbaits. The 10" plastic worms were pretty useless for the local fish (plus there were no bass back then in impoundments) but the grubs would have been successful looking back now. I just didn't know how to fish them (too fast and without variation in retrieve) or even a thing fish like bream or whiting would take lures. I belonged to Brisbane Sportfishing Club, but no one there knew how to fish them either, plastics were a very new thing in Oz back then, I think Mr. Twister was only just appearing in tackle stores! I had a ton of spinnerbaits he had sent over, I thought them too weird to even try. 🙄

i find winter times cast n dead stick works the best with a slow and pause retrieve

what rod, reel, line setup is being used?

That was a couple of years ago, Brandon. It's a Shimano Jungle Stix ultra light rod and probably a Shimano Stradic 1000 reel. Neither exact model is still made but there are plenty of similar (and better) models on the market today.
