Awesome tutorial, this has helped me learn how to toeside pendy! Anyone have any tips on pushing the board to face back down the hill after kicking out the slide? I've only been able to come to a 45/90 degree stop while learning this slide so far.

as usual, great fundamentals freeride downhill skating information sharing! fwiw, i use your videos which ive seen msny msny times , to re-study the key elements to something I feel i need to improve upon. I do this prior to sessions where i want to work on a particular element ( such as toey pendys) which i feel needs some added attn. Your ' Troubleshooting ' summaries are fabulous checklists for us to use to run thru, even if you've gotten proficient at them, going thru the key stages of a 'squat slide' or 'impriving your tuck ' which you produce in your content is a huge asset to have. Example: prior to Old Man Jones Outlaw 2023 , im running thru several of your bangin' vids to ensure my "ducks are in a row " before tackling BFG & orher spots ... (your Philippines trip footy is 🔥,btw!)

Nice, that will help me to update my technique... My problem on this slide is that the knee (with knee pad fortunately...!) of my back leg touch the road when I slide (I killed my knee pad cap :) My position does not seem to be the right one... But it's complicate to unlearn bad habit...

well it definitely feels more natural to turn into a toeside but on the other hand heelsides have you facing the object you're about to hit if you don't slow down enough, so that's also something talking for that hahaha - awesome guide! most informative must know longboard channel out there no doubt

will keep that in mind, I guess sewing some leather on your cheap skating jeans really is a good idea - booty crash pad underwear worth it or not really? (I'm a bit beefy when it comes to Legs and Back muscle mass)

Im a little bit frustrated right now, i learned this slide so i could come to a stop when i go fast and it works.. i never really paid much attention to what i was doing but now that im a bit more serious on the thecnical downhill i needed it to pendulum but i always end up doing a 180.. i can do a fakie 180 standie but it sucks i wish i could pendulum any slide but I can't 😢

Great videos! Can I ask, is it possible to learn this on a wide bike path (like a one lane road)? Or is that too narrow or difficult? I have a great spot but it’s narrow.
@downhill254skate
@downhill254skate 3 жыл бұрын
I'd say it would be a bit too difficult. If you have great flexibility you can likely pull it off
@SpoonfulBurnside

This is very similar to push-up slide, but just with the band hand? the initiation is same, can I learn it by while doing a push-up slide, try less and less weight on the front hand, and eventually no need to put down the front hand?
@downhill254skate
@downhill254skate 3 жыл бұрын
M8, yeah you could transition from the push up slide to this, but it would be better if you followed along with the guide and made it work! Thats the only perspective I've figured out
@SpoonfulBurnside

@@downhill254skate thanks for the reply 👍, what would you say the speed required for this, same as for push up slide? But not as fast as required for Coleman slide? I can do shut down push-up slides now, and but 180 push up only at slow speed. Could you explain a bit more in the swing the board back part? Do you push the board back with the front leg? But as your body weight is already off the board on the hand once sliding, how to shift the body back on to the board? Cheers
@downhill254skate
@downhill254skate 3 жыл бұрын
@@SpoonfulBurnside The pendulum slides need a bit of speed to pull off. Go faster than jogging pace. I also recommend you learn it on a hill as it would be very difficult to get enough speed by simply pushing. You’re gonna have most of your weight on your front foot - about 50-70% of it. You’re then going to have about 20% of your weight on your back foot, and then about 10-30% of your weight on your hand. Release pressure on your back foot, maintain weight/pressure on your front foot. This should allow the board to straighten up and come back from the over 90* angle. there's more to it, I recommend you check out the writeup link in deecription, most of your questions re answered there

Hi man, great video. I was doing this grabbing rail but have made the move to hands free and it is so much easier. I’m sliding it out nicely but can’t bring it back in, what am I missing here?

Send me a clip on IG and I'll let you know what exactly you're doing wrong. Maybe you're not going fast enough or shifting your weight, or bringing your shoulders froward. Hard to tell without a video

What is your opinion on "how high should the hip/butt be" while toeside slide? I think I´m always too low on the board.

As high as you think you can be without high siding
@downhill254skate

Whatever is comfortable. Higher allows you to apply more weight on the board, but only works if you have good control. So just focus onw hats comfortable

I have no problem doing it with both hands, but I just can't seem to do it one handed. Am I putting too much weight on my hand? I feel like I'm putting way more than 20% cuz my left arm just can't hold the weight (I'm goofy). My right arm has no problem holding out colemans though, but it doesn't feel like I'm holding as much weight doing those.
@downhill254skate
@downhill254skate 2 жыл бұрын
yeah you may be leaning away too much from the board ... hard to tell if I don't have a video of you doing it.
@dead7781
@dead7781 2 жыл бұрын
@@downhill254skate I think you're right about leaning to far away. It's hard keeping a low center of gravity doing toesides. How do you get your bum close to the ground?! 😂 Mine just sticks up and out, I look like that yoga position. It makes highsiding sooooooo easy, so I think I've compensated for it by leaning away to far like you say. Doing colemans is so easy compared to this cuz my bum is pretty much at the same level as the board already. Don't really have to try to keep a low center of gravity for those.

Thanks for doing this video so well! This is what I used to learn toesides (grabbing rail). The only other thing that someone recommended doing, that really helped me out was to keep my legs or knees together during the slide. Feels almost like they triangulate and I feel a little more solid most of the time. Love all of the videos, hope you can make it out to Tepe soon.
