Sorry if the quality is poor! I thought it looked better than the other style ... I think I need to get a light to make this go pro work well. It doesn't focus on the face so shining a light would make it easier ... anyway. Hope this guide was useful! Comment if you need anything to be cleared up.

Hey man kind of off topic question for ya but could you run 165mm trucks in a 9.75 or 10 inch wide board? Or would you be better off with 180mm? Thanks for all your vids man been watching them all lately since I found your channel very helpful

@@arn6376 yeha you could, as long as you ride slightly wider wheels. But really it should work ok with most wheels. Cheers man!

This is high tier wisdom. As a new rider I can easily tell you that ignorinh setup carves are the #1 reason your slides are failing. I have two ruined jeans and a broken helmet to prove it haha

Setup carve is something i do subconsciously insurf skate to get a good slide. I am hoping my kittle but if surfakate experience and and 80s powerslidinding helps me figure this out.

Will make a guide on this. This is called predrifting. But it's about managing the pressure of the slide with your front and and back leg. Maintaining pressure on your front leg, whilst releasing pressure on the back leg and allowing the board to rotate to the direction of travel and regain traction

Thanks man! It’s a pretty good one and I appreciate the many examples you give here. The variations and variants of slides offer illustrations of possible options to explore. You are right that watching clips from very advanced riders, especially in fast runs, is not a good approach. Those guys tend to rely on one or two types of slides which they are very consistent with (at those speeds, you better not tinker around) and you may become hooked on trying a variant that really won’t work for you (body type, skill, agility, board setup, etc). Hence, nothing better than to try things out. Well done!

Thanks for watching and yeah, thought it would be extremely useful to point that out. We're all inspired by great riders and aim to ride like them, but that could be harmful when you start out. Really you should be looking to someone only just a step further than you on the learning curve to copy. Thanks man! :)

At what point do you prepare your back foot’s position for the slide? Before or after the setup carve?

@@downhill254skate I’ve seen mixed advice given online for what degree is better for freeride/sliding 40° or 50° trucks. What do you suggest? I was thinking about going with a 40 or 44 degree and using a wedge maybe like 3 degree to shoot for a middle ground lol Cheers and thanks for your content 🙏

Great video. I am studying slides and I only mastered the push up slide so far. I do it with a setup carve and I have cast ronin katanas. Got an insane deal on them, I know they are above my skill level but I had to take them for only 30$ a set. Why shouldn't people do setup carves on ronins and rouges? Can you explain that further please?
@downhill254skate
@downhill254skate 3 жыл бұрын
I swear, I had replied to this ... anyway. You got a good deal on them. Nick broms told me to load them up more (the ronins) to get the most out of them sliding, and I did that. They consistently felt good without setup carving. I think it's because they lean and steer so much. Setup carving can make them oversteer and not feel the best in the slides. Still, as you're learning you should still setup carve
@DinnyeYT
@DinnyeYT 3 жыл бұрын
@@downhill254skate Okay, thanks! I will continue to setup carve with them for a while. That's pretty interesting! That lean and turniness is exactly why I love these trucks from the second I tried them out!
