Sail Types: Square Rigged: Sails fastest downwind, best for trade ships using the wind route. Fore and Aft: Does not lose speed as much when heading crosswind, or nearly towards the wind. Junk Rig: Very good and sailing crosswind but is slow when heading downwind. Teen Sail: Proforms greatly when going crosswind but suffers greatly when going upwind.

Do you have any tips on how to more involved in the community? - I'm on discord, but currently am riding solo...I want to get into trading, or maybe some navy stuff but have no friends or connections to lead me the right way. - Tradelands is just more enjoyable with friends, people helping you out, rooting for you, working together etc.

Honestly navies are the best for making friends, you could join an official one or find an unofficial one which will usually be friendlier and is how i made a lot of friends

You should play as blackwind if u have friends caude my best memories in the game was playing blackwind with my friends when i was new and just got the dart. Its fun. Not very profitable though

for the navies, how does it work are the seamen assigned roles? how do i know what to do during tradelands RPs? and are newer players able to be in these RPs? also, the faction reputation keeps resetting occassionally. for example, i play whitecrest and get my rep to 20. then i join the next day and play as a different faction and my whitecrest reputation is 8. what does this mean?

For navies, its pretty simple but you just do whatever you're told instead of having an assigned role. And yes newer players are able to be in RP but you are more likely to be picked if you show activity and presence within navy events frequently

The chad is indeed correct, cannons are useful in the long run if they are at least medium, the smaller ones meh. I'd personally recommend round shot as that gets drained very quick

Hallen turned into fort verner a couple years ago. It's been hostile for many many years now. Hallengard navy has reformed also i think

That depends, using a certain material may grant a certain other material to drop more frequently. Information about what materials can be found on wikis maybe.

You need to acquire yourself some fish oil and then either use an oil press to make fish oil or get a specific type of fish to craft the oil at a crafting station. But this takes fishing levels, a lot of fish and time so it is better to buy it from a player
