Hey guys, in this boxing video I will teach you how to train on the heavy bag correctly. It's very important to work on specific things while training on the heavy bag.
Once concept that were going to be working on is "One hand attacks, while the other one defends". I'm sure you heard the saying: "Protect yourself at all times!" This drill will help you improve your form and technique and also prepare you to be defensive minded at all times.
We're going to start in a high guard and only work with the left hand while the right hand defends.
1. Jab to the head.
2. Jab to the body.
3. Double jab to the head.
4. Jab to the head, jab to the body.
5. Jab to the body, jab to the head.
6. Left hook to the head.
7. Left hook to the body
8. Left hook to the body, left hook to the head combo.
9. Left uppercut in the air.
10. Left uppercut to the body.
Up next, we're going to work only with the right hand, while the left hand defends. These are mostly power shots.
1. Straight right hand to the head.
2. Straight right hand to the body.
3. Right hook to the head.
4. Right hook to the body.
5. Right hook to the body, right hook to the head combo.
6. Right uppercut in the air.
7. Right uppercut to the body.
Notes:
- Always look at the boxing bag as an opponent. This will keep you alert and focused on your technique.
- Breathe with every punch.
- Control the range at all times and don't allow the boxing bag to make contact with your body.
- Do 3 to 4 rounds (3-minute rounds).
- You can train on the heavy bag every day. Along with sparring, shadow boxing and mitt work, it is one of the most important boxing exercises that you can do.
