This doesn't have anything at all to do with teaching your dog to guard you - you are just using the word 'guard' to mean what most trainers call 'center'.

You obviously have never owned a German. You don’t have to teach them to attack. My German is home trained and naturally stands between me and ANYTHING he considers a threat. Once they know placement it’s a very simple step to release him to protect. I find it hilarious instead of praising this incredible training you decide to critique. I’ll just go ahead and assume your dogs have zero training. What this young man is doing is impressive.
@bigbossadidoss8678 Жыл бұрын
@@starkeyfarmstead first of all, this wasn’t a criticism it was me asking how this helps. Second of all, I just got a German shepherd puppy recently, did quite a bit of training with him, took the best care of him I knew how, vaccinations, pampering, even started looking for a trainer to do protection training. But maybe don’t speak on things you know nothing about, because he’s not trained, he’s dead. He died because of parvo, we have no idea how we get it and the vet said it was just something that happens sometimes and no one can save them. I suggest you maybe check your damn attitude before talking out of your ass.

Why would you want the dog walking between your legs rather than on your side?
@DobeMom Жыл бұрын
I actually use the "Close" command on my Doberman. When I say Close she sets up next to me in heel position but she's so close that she's connected to me. During long durations she lays on top of me feet watching everything that's happening around me. Ready to react if needed. I think the between the legs might inhibit her vision to protect. Just my two cents. Nicely done though.
@krombopulosrick792011 ай бұрын
Its a position for interacting with strangers. So the dog can put themselves in between you and the possible threat as quick as possible. A Dobermans looks are probably enough to scare most criminals from interacting with you.

This is irresponsible. You should not put this kind of stuff on KZbin. If people want to do protection work they need to go to someone and really learn how to do it firsthand in person. Too many people are going to take a little bit of information and make their dog a lethal weapon without really know what they are doing. There’s enough dog bites and dangerous dogs out there we don’t need more.
@AwesomeTIME48906 Жыл бұрын
Your comment is stupid af. People are not gonna make protection dogs without knowing how to do so, that doesn’t make any sense. KZbin is a resource so your entire opinion doesn’t make sense at all

Are you able to do this with out the treats?
@oliviaaltizer1408 Жыл бұрын
well you need some type of reward, maybe a toy, or head scratches but treats are probably ur best bet to reinforce it

do you work for no money? this isn’t training to do tricks, this is teaching a working dog to do a job, so some transaction is necessary to make the behaviour rewarding.
@pbc4936 Жыл бұрын
Lmao you definitely want to this 70% of the time without treats just give them a lot of love but not to much. I don't know what this guy in the comments is talking about "Do you work for free" but he's obviously young. You don't seek reward while you work nor do you get rewarded at work, you are not a first grader. The object is to do your fucking job & gain skills & always perform at a rapid pace.. that's why they pay people when the week is OVER... once you get "treats" during work you start to get comfortable... Why you think people always say "I'm hungry for a chance"... You just aren't as hungry when you not hungry lmaooo.

Haha this is my "solider" command. The reverse way is my "bodyguard" command. Definitely didn't use a lot of treats tho. For example put your dog in a environment with distractions. You'll see quick without a treat your dog won't perform quite like you'd think. Good work tho.

People like me train dogs to go at whatever hand you have something in & if you have something in both hands that's even better cause a lot of us have 2 dogs READYY... And if you think you can stab 1... yet alone 2..... 60 pound beast flying at you like a bullet ready to snap your arm off and take it in the house to chew on then ILL PAY YOU TO TRESPASS ON MY PROPERTY 🤣💯 & even worse you know if a dog really snaps down & locks jaws on any part of your body your more than likely going to pass out... & If you stab it you are more than likely just going to piss it off... Seems like you'd been a goner EITHER WAY💀💯
