"How do I fix my dog barking at everything?" "Crate training avoids the issue!" Okay, for now, but how do I change the behaviour effectively? Do I correct, redirect, something else? The video didn't address the issue, just how to avoid it for this very moment. Which definitely helps that person for the next few days, but not months. If the dog reacts to people passing by all day long, and not only when the owners aren't home, this makes this short term fix problematic as well. More info/options/methods/scenarios/long term options please!

My dwarf poodle is near 2 years old. And never stops barking. Once outside, the barking doesn't stop. The attention is everywhere, very hyped and stimulated. The same goes when guests arrive at home. With the automatic bark collar, the sound beeps when the dog has barked for more than 3 seconds. It vibrated when the dpg barks again after 7 seconds from the first beep. And automatically turns off if the dog is still barking after 12 seconds from the vibration-- a feature that might indicate there is really something wrong around the environment, promoting the dog's natural instincts to bark. It is not cruel. Doesn't hurt the dog. The moment the collar beeped twice, our dog has absolutely learned there is no need to bark in unnecessary circumstances. Also with the collar, he understands that he does not need to bark. So he has learned to be relaxed outside the apartment. Now he does not chase bikes, joggers, cars. He also doesn't bark anymore at the sight of dogs that are at a distance. He is more relaxed, understanding there is no need to bark at everything, no need to be hyped at everything. It's really a game changer. My dog has learned to calm down. Now we can open our curtains and he has learned to just sleep in the sofa no matter what passes by the window. Please observe that we also clicker train him on walks and reward him for good behavior. So it's positive training plus this bark corrector tool. He also gets to run to the fenced dog forest every afternoon to chase birds, dip in the mud and play with other dogs. So it's a collective effort with lots of love.

My issue with our five month old female Airedale Terrier puppy is defiant "incessant barking" when her bad behavior, such as jumping on the Sofa & then climbing on my husband's neck. Then when my husband or myself try to calmly correct this behavior, she proceeds to Bark loudly & incessantly. Hey Will, Love your videos! They're by far some of the best dog training videos we've come across for dog training. We have a 4 month old GSD puppy who is very well crate trained (LOVES his crate). However, the main barking issue we come across is him barking at our cat whenever she comes into the main living area where the crate is. Whenever he begins barking (VERY loudly), it's not long before she takes off (reinforcing his behaviour/barking). Currently, theres no feasible way we can prevent her from coming into the room and ideally we would like to desensitize him to her while he's in the crate. When he isn't in the crate, he doesn't bark at her, but he attempt to chase her to play (which she wants no part of). Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Cheers.

My dog loves her crate and has since day one. She barks at the window and doors when she hears/smells a dog walking (or god help us she hates the mailman) by when we are together on first floor. I work from home and my dog rests beside my work area while I work. The bark is really loud and makes me jump, I normally say his name is a telling of tone which results in his tail between his legs. Also even if i dont do it he knows hes not meant to as after his bark you can read on his face that he is anxious. As a first dog owner I completely stuffed up crate training and dont want to add to his anxiety by re introducing it. Any other tips? Also I know all his bad habbits are 100% my fault. By the far the worst is his whinning which after 3 years has stopped me taking him out in highly distracting environments (still goes on daily around the block walks). I have a pair of small dogs, one is a Chihuahua and the other one is a Pithuahua. (Yes, yes... Pitbull Chihuahua mix... don't ask) They don't bark at home unless someone they don't recognize comes in the door. And they're fine for the most part on the leash until they see another dog, then they both go ballistic. Or sometimes they'll bark at random humans for no apparent reason (unless maybe it's a scent thing?) I have non-painful bark collars for them (vibrate and sound only, no shock) but I'd prefer to not have to use them just to enjoy a walk downtown on the square. Advice?

Not sure if you will actually read this but if you do I need help lol. I am a trainer who has worked with this problem before and have had good results. One of my clients has an 8 year old lab who has a default bark. Meaning when anything happens or nothing happens she barks she wants something she barks she doesn't want to do something she barks. She is bored she barks. I have figured it's lack to mental stimulation/leadership when she was younger and has grown worse and worse with age. I have developed a plan to have more of her time during the day play/and work and she seems to be making progress. (She hasn't been taught how to learn things so just getting her to focus and to be taught what I'm asking of her is a chore not very i smart which is odd because she is labxD) I have been able to communicate ah ah as no that's enough and works 85% of the time but sometimes she just gets going and getting her brain back takes a few minutes. Any suggestions as far as this goes ? Have you ever run into this before?

We have a talkative Dashaund which if left in the garden even for a short period will guard and bark at noise. I step out she is submissive as she knows she's not meant to bark. But it's not practical to always be out there and mean if it's sunny to keep her couped indoors? That's something I need help with - any advice from other suffering dog owners?

Unfortunately, my dog is crate trained already (though his crate is in the living room of our 1bedroom apartment so theres no way to get him away from windows). I clicked this video because my dog had just come in from a walk while its raining, so i sent him to the crate to let his feet dry off. However, after i gave him a treat to continue reinforcing that the crate is a good place and sitting down on the couch, he started to stare me down, giving repeated low growls with the occasional bark mixed in for the next five or so minutes (i assume because he wanted out as i dont typically leave him closed into the crate for more than a minute or so unless we are at work). At 11:00pm, and in general, that is an unacceptable behavior and gives the impression of aggression even though hes a sweetheart. Any advice would be appreciated and thanks!

In my personal opinion I think a easier way to fix it is add a quite command for example I live with to Rottweilers they are very territorial they go ape shit when anyone goes by my house personally I like it but if I say it's okay then stop barking how I did that was when they would bark I'd get up look at what they are barking at then when I'd leave I'd say it's okay and make them leave with me over time I didn't have to get up and I can just say it's okay

We just got new neighbors. The wife is a veterinarian. They have five whippets. We were very excited to have her and her husband move into our neighborhood but that has quickly changed. We are now in a position where is a rare occasion when we can even go into our backyard and enjoy some peace and quiet without their dogs losing their mind. It usually ends up in the owners screaming at the dogs and taking them inside which kind of ruins everything. BST, I can relate! We have a similar dynamic next door. I am tempted to offer some friendly advice to my neighbors, but I don't. I will refrain from saying anything until they ask for help, which I don't expect them to do. Initially, I stayed out in the back yard with my quiet dogs for the reason given in this video ... I did not want to reinforce the barking neighbor dogs with the consequence of me and my dogs going away (into the house). I even tried putting my pack of dogs into a motionless stay position, hoping that if we remained silent and stationary, the neighbor dogs would stop barking. Neighbor dogs kept barking until the neighbors brought them back into the house in frustration. Lately, I simply go back into the house with my dogs in hopes of keeping peace in the neighborhood and minimizing the neighbor's frustration.

Hi please help I have a 1yr old alskan shepard. We have had a lot happen this year. A fire, loss of dad become homeless. We are now in a hotel and my pup has taken to barking at all noises including people walking down the stairs She's only just started and I want to stop it before it becomes a problem. I can't crate. There are 19 other residents who most are awake at night up drinking or drugs. So become very noisey. I know it's she does not feel secure. As she does not bark anywhere else. You forget to mention, that walking the dog IN THE MORNING TO GET RID OF ENERGY, is inredibly important! Just locking him into a crate all day long is not good for the dog and you will be encouraging more barking and howling!

Our rescue dog was quiet at 1st. We got him at 4; he's now 4 1/2 & a 91 lb Black Lab/Shepherd mix. Then he had to put up with the neighborhood dogs barking at him every time we'd take him out. Now with the windows open he hears them barking at other people so he barks out the windows. If we crate him he can still hear them and barks. Yesterday he was frantic at all the fireworks going off all around us. There was no settling him down. What then? He is exhausted today but still barks when he hears the other dogs barking. It's hard to control him when the neighbors don't control their dogs. They never tell their dogs to stop barking. They leave them outside, 2 neighbors...2 dogs & 2 dogs = 4, sometimes all day long barking at eachother over their fences and everything else they see and hear when the owners go to work! It's very frustrating. My husband is working from home which is a nuiscance for him especially because he is on the phone a lot with customers.
