LOVE how receptive the second owner was, (not that the others weren’t). The way she asked for clarification and recognized it’s her job to set up her dog for success, definitely makes me want to be just as receptive with my pups!

I cannot begin to tell you how much help your videos are. The shepherd in this video mirrors my shepherd. After seeing this video I realize the two trainers I tried (one xmilitary, one police dog trainer) were much to harsh with my dog. When I applied your method of gentle pressure versus a sharp correction, the change in my dog was nothing short of miraculous. She scares people to death with her "aggressive" posture and barking, but in fact she is simply hyper sensitive- using your method she is gaining confidence in leaps and bounds because she has time to work through in her mind what I'm asking her to do without fear of too quick a response from me, or too severe a correction. She is incredibly intelligent and wants to please - sometimes "less" is "more". Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Communication should not mean discomfort, that literally makes no sense. How would you like it if you were in the garden and to get you inside I gave you a shock to your neck?? Or to get you to stand next to me I put a spikey round of metal at your throat? It’s ridiculous and it’s simply not okay. They don’t even train police dogs with those methods.

I met a dog like the last one this past week and had the opportunity to work with him for about 10 minutes. He was unconfident and had some separation anxiety from his owner. After the first 5 minutes, I could see him begin to open up but the owner continued to reinforce the anxious behavior (unknowingly). Thanks to your videos, I felt confident with my handling of the dog and saw results instantly. To a degree, of course because I was limited on time. However, the owner let his frustrations cloud the positive things I was showing and telling him about his dog, and what may help them with their situation. I am slowly coming into my groove with training. Your videos have helped me properly train my anxious rescue. He will always be a little anxious but he has become such a smart, confident dog that I have to thank you for your work and content.

Thank you so so much for your videos. I’ve had my rescue pitty for 2 years now. In the last 6 months I haven’t been able able to walk her so I’ve been letting my son do it. Since then. I’ve noticed her behavior getting worst around the property. Barking at the school kids walking by… running along the fence as people pass. I started walking her again and realized she’s become reactive. Lunging at cars and people. She never did this before. I realize now that letting my son walk her was a mistake. He’s too young. I think she now feels insecure and is reacting to that. So I’ve started working with her again. Using a slip lead and making tight directional changes. Just a week in and she’s already made great improvements. Thank you for helping me understand how her insecurity in her handler can cause her to react. I didn’t realize that and it’s already made big improvements. I know she’s a good girl and I’m confident that with some work she will be able to enjoy walks and camping and all that.

I have a dog I rescued from the street. No owner came forward. He’s been with me for 2 months now. Since I found you and your videos I can see such a difference in him. I never wanted to uses prong collar because I thought they were going to really hurt my dogs. After watching you and learning how to “use” it properly I understood how it’s helpful. I got one for Sarge and first day he heeled like a champ! I almost cried! I was so proud of him. Now I know I can use it as a tool not a punishment. I will use it on my other dog who pulls on walks. Now I have to work on him not liking( being afraid of) my family I’m thinking the E collar might work for this? I’ll try the prong collar first though. Thank you for giving me the knowledge and ability to help Sarge to be the dog I know he can be and not end up being put down ( I would never, but if he ended up in the pound he would have) Thank you for helping me help save his life #savingsarge

Acquisition, fluency, generalization and maintenance are the four stages of dog training. Each action should be worked through each of the four stages before attempting to move on to a more advanced version. So the auto-sit needs to be at a 90% completion before you start adding things like distractions. Every dog needs proper obedience training so that they can understand what they are supposed to do any situation

Recently discovered no bad dogs, I luv the name!! ❤I need a pet dog to do some desensitization...with our 8mth olds and the mom, as well as the auntie...yep we have 6 dogs now...they also need to learn to behave around the sibs they were separated from...they tend to "group pick on" them, which was so surprising for us, but I understand now from one of your podcast episodes, they don't have the concept of my sister, or my brother like humans do ....(well, some humans 😅) so we have to train them about that.

Love getting to see some of this work in action! We have a three legged Malinois mix we adopted at approx 9 months. She's very very fearful of other people. It takes a really long time for her to get used to someone. Well, when we are there that is. When we aren't there, her fear/anxiety takes her into shut down/I'll do whatever you say just don't hurt me mode most of the time. But yea, it's been rough trying to get her ok with guests in our house. She usually has to stay back in the bedroom when people are over. Which upsets the Corgi who must have everyone together where he can keep an eye on them. So keeping him in the bedroom with her doesn't help him either. We had a local trainer who was doing large field socialization but they had to stop awhile back and haven't been able to find a new place to hold the socialization. Which was a huge bummer because it was really really starting to help her (and it was getting our lil Corgi boi more comfortable around other dogs too although he can gets to go to daycare now and seems to enjoy it, so it's not as big of a deal for him not to have socialization. The large field socialization was a perfect intro for the Mal. She was able to check out other humans from a distance (it wasn't always all the same people every week, another bonus) as well as other dogs. She had started venturing off on her own to sniff around after like the 3rd session. The first two, she stuck close to us. But every since socialization class went away, we've been at a loss for what to do with her. This is really the only video I've been able to find online that addresses issues that are actually similar to what we are dealing with. Thanks again!

🐾 It's good to bring your nervous dog to an open area that is a lot big to work on desensitization your dog to a new thing he or she will in counter in the dog's life. Nerves situation you and your dog my encounter so it is a good ide to training at bigger pet-friendly stores and just take it slow and one day at a time because if you bring your nervous dog to a crowded store the dog will not respond in a good way. Your dog will have more anxiety and behavioral problems so just start out small and as the dog starts to improve you can slowly bring it to where more dogs and people are at so if you have a dog with this trouble you need to watch this Tom Davis dog training video. 🐕🐾 This is a good video if your dog is a reactive dog this video will help you out! if feel like so dog trainers try to teach how to fix it but they don't see what Tom Davis can see in a dog and scenes in the dog and owner that is why he can help dogs and their owners with life situations in life. ❤🐕❤

Hey Tom, I'm from the Netherlands, have a well behaved dog and not looking into getting a new pup for a good few years. But I'm eager to learn regardless! Is there any content you provide such as (e)books or online courses? If not, is that's something you might plan to do for the future? The YT video's are awesome and fun to watch, but they're obviously quite random topics and tailored to the specific dog in the video. So it's hard to get a comprehensive understanding of your methods to apply to my (future) dog. I dont live in New York and I don't have any specific problems or questions for an online session. But it seems like those are the only things you offer right now. I'd 100% pay any amount for a book or an online course!

Hi! We are currently fostering a 4mo terrier mix (20#) from a 93 dog hoarding case - we have fallen in love with him but he is still afraid of my husband and my 2 kids. (Tomorrow will mark a week of having him). He is literally my little shadow but I want to help him get used to other people and I don’t know how to start. We also own 3 other dogs and he’s been getting along - testing his limits with the others 😅 but he’s such a cute pup that we’d love to help him thrive and adopt him. Any tips are appreciated 🙏

This is great and all and I think my dog would respond this way too but it’s because she’s not at her home like these owners were saying. Would you consider doing a video on a dog at their own residence? That is my dogs issue. The second we leave our house she’s a different dog. But very territorial of her home only. Takes her a very long time to be comfortable with others in the home and then still sometimes growls or bakes if they get up and move around. 5 year old mini schnauzer and she’s always been this way 😩
