Thank you very much for your help! That overcame my fear with confusing ticket purchases!

A very well presented video, with clear instructions and tips. My wife and I shall be visiting Manchesrer in a few weeks, so we are busy now trying to work out some sort of itinerary to make the most out of our stay. Is there a ticket which lets you use the tram and the buses ? We recently had a short break in Edinburgh and they have such a ticket. That ticket was perfect as the tram didn't go everywhere we wanted to go to. Regards from Whitley Bay

Yes, there is an option for combined travel on buses and trams. On a tram ticket machine, there should be an option near the bottom of the screen that says "Combined Travel- Tram Bus Train", and that should give you what you need :)

Well presented...not using speed-speak...howeverrrr..."musical" background noise is never a plus.

Thanks for the informative video. One question - If using a contactless card for a return journey, will the amount eventually charged depend upon the number of zones crossed, or will it always default to the maximum (ie that for Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4?
@tramographyMCR23 күн бұрын
The former. It should never charge you for e.g. 1+2+3+4 if you have only travelled through 1+2.

Daft question but If I buy a Single or Travel Card, do I still need to use my Single or Travel Card ticket on the Smart Reader?
@tramographyMCR7 ай бұрын
No, either buy a ticket or use contactless (only use contactless if 16+ of course)

No questions are daft if you're trying to avoid a £120 fine for not paying, in my opinion

Just watched this. Is there like an official timetable of when trams arrive at each stop so you’re not stood around waiting? I’ve got to go from Piccadilly to Altrincham soon and I don’t want to miss the tram accidentally.
@tramographyMCR2 ай бұрын
@@DrifterWill It's very annoying that the Metrolink actually doesn't share official timetables at tram stops or on the website, just first and last tram times. All tram routes (each colour on the network diagram) run every 12 minutes, so if you do miss one, you have at most a 12 minute wait for the next tram, if there is no disruption to service. In short, the trams are frequent enough that TfGM doesn't see a need for the timetables to be at tram stops. I will be making another video on this at some point, as I think this is at least a minor issue and something that needs to be fixed.

Very interesting. Go to manchester a lot but never used the tram. Contactless seems the easiest method but what proof would i have if im stopped and asked for a ticket?
@tramographyMCR7 ай бұрын
They'll have something with them that recognises if a ticket has been bought, just use the same card or device when you're asked to present evidence

When I use the smart reader before entering the tram and there should be a ticket inspection. Ho can I proof to have used the smart reader?
@tramographyMCRАй бұрын
@@ThorstenMeier-q2y They will have readers on them as well that can detect if you've tapped in. Just show them the same card or device :)

Is there a senior rate for visitors? I think seniors travel for free in England on buses, but does that include trams? I have dual citizenship for UK and Canada and I am61. I was born in Manchester but have not been back since 2019.

Not that I can see, I'm guessing the price for adults is the same for anyone 16+ unless they have a concessionary pass
@peterkelly83572 ай бұрын
Don't forget to check the tram timetable so you know you've missed the tram you wanted to get or you've got ages to wait for the next one.

It's bizarre children need an ID. When we travel on the tram, I will not be carrying ID, including igo as we don't live in GM, for my 7 year old son.
@tramographyMCR27 күн бұрын
@@DIEMLtdTV No, only 11-16 year olds can have an igo card anyway. 5-11 don't need verification
