Hi Mark - does it matter what size you project the movie? What's the best thing to project it on? Thanks so much - good video 👍💯

I keep my projector about four feet away from the screen so the camera can get a proper focus (any closer than three feet and the camera may not be able to focus because it is too close). I keep the picture as small as I can (maybe about 1x1 ft) because I feel that the smaller the picture size, the sharper the image. Think of it this way, take a flashlight and shine it on a wall a foot in front of you. The beam is really sharp right? Now back away and you will see the the beam will expand on the wall but the edges will not be as sharp. I use a really nice movie theater screen or you can use a white poster board. The old style projector screens are not smooth and wont make for a good picture. The better the screen, the better the picture. When I was purchasing my movie theater projector and screen, the sales rep told me that I could get the best projector in the world but if I project it on a crappy screen, I will get a crappy picture. The image will only be as good as what it is projected on. Please hit that subscribe button to help support the channel. I'd greatly appreciate it!

Im gonna do it your way. I managed to get a 16mm projector and a rare 1970s time travel film with the (second DR) DR WHO star Patrick Troughtonck. its called A HITCH IN TIME and i also need to transfer a friends old STANDARD 8 family film. i bout a cine to video converter but its quality is crap. also im getting strobing even on 24fps but i didnt try 24 shutteer

I think you will need to adjust your shutter speed on the camera. check to see if your projector has a speed control dial to slightly adjust to help with the strobe. Good luck!

Great video, thanks. Could someone use say a smart phone, with the right app to film the screen? Also, what video editing software do you use ? Thanks

You may be able to use a phone. You have to be able to match the frame rate, adjust the shutter speed and quickly adjust the aperture. I use Final Cut Pro for editing. Thanks for watching!

What camera do you prefer using to capture the film?
@TheMediaNerdMT Жыл бұрын
Im using a sony hd camera in this video. I can adjust the f stop, frame rate and ISO. I also can plug in XLR. What ever camera you use, you may need these kind of functions. You also need to be able to control the speed of the projector so you can match frame rate so you don't have flicker or rolls.

I'm trying to use this setup with Elmo16-CL and a Nikon D90 but am getting horizontal line flicker. Any suggestions?

You need to have your camera set at 24 fps and adjust your shutter speed to 24. Those are the settings I used in the video. Does your projector have a speed control or a frame setting?

Great video, Mark! Is that a Sony FS700 you're using?

Thank you! I was using the fs700 and fs100 in this video. I can’t remember which one I used to capture the screen and which one I used to shoot the video. Nonetheless, they are both pretty much the same! Please subscribe to the channel if you have not already. I’d appreciate the support!
