You forgot the importing part though. When I open the .veg file on another computer, do I seriously have to manually direct every file when it asks me for file location, or can I import it all in some convenient way? Can't really figure out how to do it any faster.

If you have a project and it's going to be a constant problem, I'll be happy to jump online and video chat for a few to figure it out. All the files which refused to import were .mkv's - and for some reason instead of telling me mkv's weren't supported, it just defaulted to a file path on a G-drive I've never had involved and refusing to let me redirect it to the actual paths. After going to options and enabling the "experimental MKV reader" which I had totally forgotten I'd done on my other PC, the files imported like they should and everything's back to normal! @Antonio Harris i dont think this even requires a video. Just take time of the song / audio devide it by seconds... (eg 1 min - 60 sec) Lets say you have 30 photos. Go to settings and change the photo time import to 2 seconds. Each photo will be inported at 2 seconds long. When you inpost all the photos the total time now the photos will end at is 1 min. You will have to play with it and also concider the auto crossfade import setting to get the desired result. Concider the transitions you want to add in as well.

You don't HAVE to zip anything. Just make sure the files and the save are in one folder and saved that way in Vegas so Vegas can find it on another computer. It's just easier most times on the other end.

I just recently bought a new computer because my old one couldn't run the program well at all. So now I'm trying to move my project files to new computer. Only Vegases labeled under the "Vegas" lineup can save as .veg files. The "Movie Studio" lineup is what saves as .vf files.

Vegas Pro 15 will make two files...BAK, which I understand is the previous back up and Vegas Pro 15 file. After I'm finished making my disastrpieces, I move all the raw files and the rendered copy to other drives. All versions of Vegas use the same method for transferring and sharing files. You should be good. As long as all the project files are in the folder AND you didn't use any special apps or plugins... it should open just fine. Worst case, you'll have to point to each file and tell Vegas where the files are in the new system... All good

When they open the project it will give you a warning that it cant find "Things" lol... but,... it will open and then the plug ins wont be there or do what you intended. So basically it will be like the plug ins were never there.

Heyo! I need a little help, I am new to Vegas pro. I made a short film. There were 3 locations, I edited each location's shots and I saved it. Now it is the time to merge those 3 locations as it was decided, and put it to 1. But, when I re-open my saved projects, the quality gets blurry. I need some technique to open each project in one without making it blurry.

Without looking at it... (you didnt render it right?) Your dragiing in the projects into a new timeline? I would guess its in the project settings, good, best, etc... there are at least 2 maybe 3 places you have to set these up. Template, properties (?) and maybe one other that would effect this. Also check your preview quality

Well there really isn't anything wrong other than it's not in the same folders as on the other end. Simply search for each clip using the search method and it will locate the files... once they re all there.... save it and it will open as usual. E.g. the file structure somehow changed along the way. No worries. Easy fix

Rule of thumb. You can open any older project with a newer version but you can't open a newer project with an older version. They should have the same version as you when you share projects.

Dizzy Viper yes it doesn't matter what drive it's on. As long as all the project files and the Vegas project saves are on the same drive you can open them up anywhere. Worst case scenario you'll have to point out certain files to Vegas if it loses track of them. But it's no big deal. Just don't leave the drive you working out of. But it should find them just fine.

As long as the recipient has the same plug ins, it will open the exact same way on their side. The presets or custom settings you have will also transfer in most cases.

@@kwillz1642 if you both have the same plug ins, and you sent them all the files as described in the video.... it will look exactly the same on their end. It will be like you opening it yourself. Note... you both need to have the same versions of the software as well or it can mess up sometimes. This same process is the correct transfer process for Vegas pro 17 and older.... all the way back.

And to be clear... in the Vegas project save you send someone, the plug-ins also have "mini notes" included in the save, so they will open the same as well. E.g. if you designed a flash effect in a plug-in, when the project is opened on their end, the flash effect will also be there as well because it was part of the vegas project save.

The other person would just download the folder, unzip it, and then open the project saved inside. Vegas will then take the data notes in the project save and use the project media (files) that you've just downloaded and the project will open just fine.
